Late December Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Well I’m a teacher so standing up will definitely not be a problem lol. I have my nausea meds, I’m just worried about them making me tired and yes I plan to have all my meals ready to go, so I don’t mess anything up.

Me too! Planning on going back Jan. 9 when the kids start back. That’ll be 12 Days post_op for me.

Thanks for the support. I sure can use it. Like you still in a bit of pain. I don't care for the Protein Drink. I don't like milk or milky products so I will have to find something else pronto. They gave me a fruit Protein drink while I was in the hospital, which was ok. Today I had strained cream of chicken Soup 1/2 cup, applesauce, Water throughout the day, 1/4 vanilla Protein Shake I didn't like at all. I am going to look for some sugar free coffee something to go in it. Still in pain but I made sure to walk a few laps around the house. Moving is key. Hope all goes well in the very near future.

I wasn't able to tolerate Protein Shakes after surgery due to the consistency. GNC makes some good Protein waters, they don't taste awful and were much easier to tolerate than shakes. I wasn't able to tolerate shakes again until almost 6 months post op.

I will get down to GNC to check out the Protein options soon. Thanks for the tip.

I am glad to know you both will have a few more days to get a good rhythm in what is our new lifestyle. I am glad to have this new found support system so I am not left feeling alone or too much of a challenge by all of the changes. :-)

Hey guys. I have no problems drinking the Protein Shakes, but I am getting mighty sick of them after three weeks of almost nothing else. I found this bariatric surgeon on YouTube who makes great videos on all sorts of topics related to WLS. I’m pasting a link here to his suggestions for a better Protein Shake. For those of you who don’t tolerate the store bought ones, maybe this would be better? It’s at least healthier.

So I’ve been coughing a lot because of this dumb weather and this afternoon I coughed and felt like I pulled something by my big incision. So all night I’ve been having this stabbing pain like right in my side. It hurts so bad it takes my breath away and like makes my knees buckles and then in like a minute it’s gone, it then it comes back. I think they are muscle spasms. Anybody else experience anything like this?

I have a bad cough too and when I cough really hard my right incision hurts for a couple hours. Just go easy on it for a couple hours and the pain should subside. If it doesn’t I would call your surgeon.

Hey guys. I’ve recently gotten back to daily life since my husband had to go back to work and my family just doesn’t work with me resting. I was sleeved on Dec 26. Yesterday I cleaned house, today I ran errands and did a huge grocery shopping. I had a store person load into my car, and my husband unload at home, but I’m SORE!!! I feel like I did a thousand crunches. Anyone else feel muscle soreness? Can I hurt my sleeve by being too active?

9 days post op and I’m down 14.6lbs :) I’m starting my weight loss from surgery day bc I didn’t have to do a pre op diet and I kind of went crazy lol. So I was supposed to go back to work yesterday, but I felt like I pulled something Tuesday. I was so scared it was something to do with my surgery, and my surgeon is out of town, so I went to my primary care dr yesterday. He took x rays which I haven’t heard back about yet, but he seems to think I fractured my rib coughing, not anything surgery related. So I’m headed back to work today armed with my pain pills from surgery and a lot of prayers. I’m glad we have this group, because I don’t like to share my weight loss victories with my family. It’s like that’s the only time they are proud of me when I’m losing weight and idk kind of makes me feel bad. If that makes any sense. Anyways sorry this was so wordy, but hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
