I got approval from my department chair to cancel two days of classes so that I have surgery on Thursday and not return to teaching until Tuesday. I'd like to announce the cancellation enough in advance that students won't make a trip to campus for no reason. But it occurred to me that my surgery could get postponed!

How often does that happen and how much notice did you get? Thanks!

I had scheduled for around lunch...but didn't arrive until the afternoon. My surgeon was so wonderful just saying, "come on in"....the cardiologist and the Psychologist...all on standby for me. Now that's service!!!

Yes, that is service!!! I'm surprised that the hospital had that kind of flexibility!

I was due to start a liquid diet October 1st with surgery scheduled for October 17th, when the nurse called two days later to say they had October 9th open and did I want it!

It WAS my choice--so hopefully if they do any rescheduling of your surgery, it'll be YOUR option!
