Surgery today and woke up crying.

I was pretty good last night but having a tough morning and scheduled to go in at 1pm. So scared of surgery and long term consequences. I know it’s somewhat irrational but probably normal. I think my husband wants me to back out so need to keep it together here.

Surgery went well. Initially felt like someone was sitting on my chest but feeling is improved. I wasted at 7 and 9:15 and seems to help with gas. Now in room and guess I will try to sleep. Pain isn’t terrible. How often should I be working. Kinda scared of drinking my Water. So just lots of smalll sips. No limitation on volume per hour?

Congrats! I was sleeved last week. Was told in the hospital to drink 2 -3 oz every 15 mins. Small sips
Hang in there! I am down 18 lbs in a week! Very noticeable to me! [emoji4]

I’m pretty good. Came home last night bc I was doing so well. Slept better but missing the hospItAl chair. Wish I would have thought of renting one for a week. Also can’t pick up anything. How long does that last. Overall eating is decent but do feel bloated today. Had 2 shakes yesterday. Veggie Soup with Protein and a little yogurt.

I hope you are doing better. I had my sleeve done on nov 15 2017, so im not that far ahead of you but concerned because many posts, publications, dr orders, and hospital orders told me only a clear liquid diet 1 week post op. definitely no Protein Shakes, no yogurt.

I accidentally swallowed a fragment of a noodle from a Soup can i was draining to try and drink the broth and i went into what seemed like shock. "dumping syndrome" is what i was told what was happening to me . pulse shot up to 200. (this was the first week) .

Im dont even have enough of my own experience to preach about much of anything but I felt the need to say something. (i was allowed sugar free only Protein Drinks and sugar free yogurt after the 1st week) but very limited amounts.

Its great to see your outlook on things now, and how youre improving :) wish you much success

Thanks for your concern. Seems like surgeon’s plans vary greatly. Mine did clear liquid day of surgery and full liqids to include shakes, yogurt and puréed soup from day 2-7. Then I do to soft foods. I’m tolerating it fine just doesn’t taste good. How are you feeling.

hi lainey,

i guess they do vary! im glad you are tolerating food , im still having problems with most foods ... i had bad reflux/heartburn before , now its at its absolute worst.

i did puree chicken breast in a mini chopper, it has like a corn meal texture to it but it tastes just like chicken and it stayed down which is good lol.

im having other issues but im sure they will get better with time.

are you restricted to sugar free only foods?

i refused anything sugar free before surgery but i will stick to sugar free now. (most are disgusting)

are you having any issues at all?

Yes sugar free only but I agree that most sugar free tastes awful so instead of vanilla flavored yogurt, I prefer plain. I'm not taking much foods. Just limited to yogurt, cream of wheat or strained / purred Soups but not chicken Soup more like broth type. It's a challenge to get requirements in so I'm sticking to 2 Protein Shakes and yogurt at this point. I will be able to move on to soft purred foods in 3 days so that will be great (I hope!) Looking forward to cottage cheese and soft foods like fish. I think it will be a huge improvement to go down to one shake a day.

I feel better today. Still have that odd feeling inside (probably gas and like things aren't quite right in there.) I'm not having pain but discomfort. Def hard to sleep past 6 hours because I'm uncomfortable in bed. Haven't gone to the bathroom yet so going to pick up milk of mag. I'm taking stool softner but burns my throat so going to pick up solace today. I have flax seed but forgot to use it. Not sure when I should start to worry but I did a 2 liquid fast so haven't gone since last Monday which was my last meal. I didn't have reflux before and fortunately don't feel it now. I'm taking prilosec to prevent it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
