The pain is slowing getting better since surgery on the 1/10! The doctors gave me an abdominal binder, and it helps so much!

I'm feeling absolutely fine today. I have been up and walking around regularly since 2 hours after my op. They gave me dispersable paracetamol around 9pm. Offered me tramadol but I really don't need it so I've refused so far. I'm sipping Water happily but still on a drip. The general anaesthetic was the only horrible bit for me so far. I took an asthma attack when I went under but thankfully I am in good hands and they've looked after me wonderfully. I'm waiting to be waterproofed up so I can shower now. Want to look my best for my visitors later xx

Which procedure did you have done?

Mine was on the 10th. How long did the pain last in your abdominal muscles? Mine is worst when I'm trying to stand up or sit down.

Hi I’m Jess and I had RNY Surgery on 10th Jan 18. I’m happy to report all is going well. I am at home now resting and feeling 95% back to normal. I am glad that they were able to do my surgery via Lap as there was a possibility of open due to my history of cancer surgery. 👍🏼👍🏼😃 Feeling great and ready for this new year. Shout out to all my Jan surgery buddies. 👋🏼

Oh yeah I've still got a little pain in the muscles too. They said the first week will be most tender then will ease a lot. I'm being cautious when standing/sitting and walking every couple of hours day and night. I managed a strawberry Protein Shake, some chicken consummate and some black decaff coffee so they've sent me home. I have heparin to self inject for a week, dissolvable paracetamol and tramadol, omeprazole, spare wound dressings ando surgical stockings. My medicine cabinet looks like a chemist xxx. How are you feeling sweetheart?

One of my nurses gave me good advice. If you roll a towel up and press it just under your chest (this is where my surgery sights are) as you get up it eases the pain. Same for if you cough etc. The pressure helps relieve the muscle ache from there. Been a big help to me

I'm 5 days post op. I earned an extra day in the hospital due the painful complication of a series of hiccup attacks. Since I live far from the hospital my surgeon wants me close by for the first week while I recover, so I'm still holed up in a room in Sacramento. I had a little blood clot scare yesterday but a quick ER visit ruled it out. The pain has finally become manageable in just the past couple days. I was a little behind on my Fluid intake three days out and I had to put in the extra effort to get to 50 oz. So far fresh pho broth and sugar free popsicles have been my saving grace. I'm looking forward to writing a more detailed account of my experience in the upcoming weeks.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
