I start my pre-op diet tomorrow eeeeeeek! Is it normal that I am eating loads of rubbish today?! I just feel like I'm in the "I'll never get to eat this again...." mentality.

I think that's normal. I did the same, also St. Stephens' Day (boxing day) was my last day so, you know, Christmas and food.. I thought I'd struggle with the sudden food restriction of the pre op diet but actually it's been grand so far! I'm 4 days in and very happy. I do feel hungry sometimes and have cravings (I miss bread soooooo much! Actually been craving toasted cheese sandwiches, something I'd rarely ate anyway. Odd) but the difference between this and every other time I've attempted to diet is that I don't have the option to cheat. If I do I put my surgery in jeopardy. Plus there's a time limit so I know there is an end date. It makes it easier. Here's some things I do that have helped: the only food in my house is food I can have, I try to think of different ways to cook and combine my veggies, spices, Protein etc so I'm not eating the same boring thing all the time, and I have alarms set on my phone to go off when I'm to eat. I actually find the alarms the best thing and really helpful. When I'm feeling hungry I can check my alarm and I know how long to wait and, honestly, it makes it easier. I hope this is helpful for you. Best of luck!!

Anyone else worried about their kids jumping on them after the surgery? I have a lively 2 and 4 year old and am not sure what to do to avoid it happening!

I will be babysitting for grandsons 2 and 4. Wondering if I can go the following Monday 6 days after surgery

I have to drink 2 Protein Shakes a day and 4 oz of lean meat for 2 weeks,,, I’ve already apologized to all my family and coworkers ahead of time because I foresee myself being a big beeoch!!!!

I’m scheduled for Jan 8th!!! I’m getting the RNY and my 2week Pre-op diet is like yours. 2 Protein shakes as Meal Replacements and 1 meal of 4oz protein and 1/2 c of non-starchy veggies. I am also allowed to have a cup of broth (chicken, turkey, beef doesn’t matter) in between meals and as much sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles as I want.......Thank God for the popsicles!!!!

**I’m losing it**

I’m scheduled for Jan 12. I think subconsciously my body is freaking out but probably because my mind is blocking it out. I’ve had serious stomach issues for like 2 weeks. I’m not doing the liquid diet since my BMI is lower but I have gained 70lbs in three years due to different medications and have lost myself along the way. Trying to nip this is in bud and the Dr’s believe this will help with my absorption of medications although I am now finally on a pill that doesn’t cause weight gain. Either way I do need buddies since others don’t seem to understand what I am doing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
