I can eat something one day and the next I can't tolerate it?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!
I'm 45 days post op and I find my pouch confusing...I discovered ricotta bake when I first started puree foods. I ate it for dinner for days, and then one night two bites in I was in discomfort and it bounced right back out. Ricotta in general, tried it again on it's own. I was fine. Tried it another day and it bounced. Scrambled eggs, good one day, I'm throwing up the next. Same thing with tuna salad on Protein chips.
So I'm wondering, for those who have experienced this, does it become more predictable? Is my body just weird :o)

I am 25 days post op and i have the same problem except this is a constant thing for me. Like the moment i eat i feel like the food isnt staying in my stomach, it bounces back up and i want to throw it up. Its so weird.

I’m 6 months out and this happens to me too. A scrambled egg goes down one day and the next it hurts and comes back up. Same with several things.

I'm not going to lie, it is a little disheartening to hear that six months out you're still having issues with this, as I was/am hopeful that it's something that will resolve. It would be easier if I knew I could just never eat some of these Protein sources, instead of the fine one day followed by discomfort/pain and puking the next. The nurse practitioner for my program who had the surgery decades ago, just said some things will agree with you and some won't and it's up to me if I want to keep trying. tuna is just such a good source of protein though...I'm just hopeful my stomach figures this out.

I'm about 9 months out and this still happens to me. I'm really not sure what it is, but it's weird. I'm starting to sort of intuitively know when it will happen when I see or even think about a food. Sometimes I will see pizza (can be any food though) and feel fine and then have a piece and I'm fine. Other times I get a very faint feeling of queasiness when I see it and every time I've ignored that feeling I've had issues with either vomiting or heavy nausea. It sounds crazy, but I'm really starting to notice a pattern!

See now that I can deal with, any indication would be better than none. So I guess I will just have to pay extra close attention to my body and how I a feeling before I eat something that has given me an issue in the past. It's just hard right now because i find that I am approaching foods that are good for me (high in Protein, low in fat and sugar etc) with trepidation., and I really don't want to feel that way about good food that's supposed to nourish my body. Like I said, it's just been confusing.

I have eaten oatmeal my whole life and after the RNY it was fine while on the soft pureed etc then one morning I had it and it made me sick. I waited a few days tried again same thing. Three times it made me sick so the dietitian said put it aside for a while. Same thing with smoked salmon I love it. Had it with cottage cheese and Avo first bite made my start heaving. With the oatmeal it's fine again now. I'm thinking there were other things going on. I was badly constipated and got very sick. Turned out I had kidney stones. I had them out this week and so far all food has been fine. I had my first sandwich with soft bread in hospital and it was good.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
