Im SOO HUNGRY! How are you making it through?

Recommended Posts

Mines was kinda of easy I could have up to 4 shakes a day but i only did one for Breakfast and 1 for lunch and then for dinner I could have a lean Protein and veg. So I would have chicken breast or fish from the a irfryer and broccoli or a salad no cheese no bacon bits no croutons with a vinaigrette dressing. Or cauliflower or mixed veg of some sort.and I lost 15 lbs doing that and I never felt like I was starving. Matter of fact as the week went on it started to feel like to much.

I'm 1 week post-op and I'm going to be honest I cheated a few times during my 2 week pre-op diet. I'm a single mom and since I'm the only one that cooks so it made it super hard. I've stolen a piece of pepperoni off a slice of pizza. I've left some ice cream on the spoon to have an excuse to lick the spoon. My son's birthday was 3 days before my surgery and I had cheated big time eating pizza and a piece of ice cream cake. In my defense I had already lost 15 lbs in the pre-op diet because I cheated on my son's birthday. It's definitely hard but not completely undoable. You got this!!

I'm also a single mom TrustSerenity. And yes, it is very hard to cook and feed my kids. I've been doing real good since Monday, but yesterday I caved and had a chicken nugget off my son's plate. I've lost 9 lbs since Monday so, it can't be that bad.

I was just sleeved on Monday. I admit that I cheated twice. It was very hard smelling food and not being able to eat. Are you able to eat Jello? That helps a little. I lost 10 pounds on that diet. My surgery went well. Hang in there!

I'm curious why you're on a broth diet 2 weeks out? Mine was only for 3 days prior but I was on a strict pre-op to shrink the liver so no processed sugar, no carbs and low fat. To simplify the diet I had a Protein Shake in the morning, unlimited veggies and fruit throughout the day with a salad or cream cheese ham roll ups for lunch and a Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers (300 calorie or less) frozen entree for dinner (try to avoid the rice and Pasta dishes if possible). Drink all of your Water (this helps flush the liver and helps keep you feeling full) if you can't take the crystal lite another minute (I hate the stuff) try flavored non carbonated water. Nestle has them in 6 flavors and they'll be your friend after surgery to. Also nobody told me this prior to my surgery but I literally felt like I was starving for about 3 weeks after surgery to the point of feeling sick and nothing eased the feeling so be aware that is a possibility but it eventually goes away. In the mean time relax a bit and cut yourself a little slack.

Thanks everyone for the support! believe me when i say its helping stay motivated! NenaNew43, Rita85 and kzl864 Congratulations on surgery’s and progress! I anticipate the diet becoming a little easier pot-op because i will be able to tolerate less! I will be on the liquid diet for a total of 5 weeks! I have tried to switch up the things that I’m allowed but those things are very limited! The sugar free popsicles have been my saving grace lol i dont mind the crystal light but i have been lacking with my Water intake! i really dont care for the sugar free Jello, it has a funny after taste to me! I weighed myself once and i am down 5 pounds so far since starting the pre-op but i dont want to get obsessed with the numbers because i dont want to get discouraged! Thanks again everyone for the comments, and support

I find that food is a habit. We eat to entertain ourselves. Ask yourself if you are hungry or bored. I catch myself doing the bored eating thing..... I then try to find something to do to keep me busy. I am now mentally working at using food as an instrument and not as entertainment. Good luck and stay strong.

Thank you doxiemom1210! I do think that keeping busy helps to think of food less! Im doing my best to avoid temptations! I do cook for the youth at my job but have been able to resist temptation! I think this is the strongest i have ever been while on a diet! I know it will get better each day! Thanks for the support

hillNicole34,
Are you allowed Soups on your diet or just broths? I creamed Progresso southwestern veggie soups and had lots of other cream based soups combined with a little unflavored Protein Powder to keep me full.

Have you tried the Protein Soup by progressive? I have only seen them advanced but have not found them in stores yet so I was curious.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
