Port pains and sex.

Recommended Posts

Since the port revision, they moved the port right between my boobs.

When we have sex now, and my legs are up over my shoulders (no visuals needed), it pulls on my port. It feels very tight like I'm ripping it out.

Since it flipped the first time, I'm worried about it. But frankly, me and DH like this position so.. I don't know, I'm confused on what to do.

My band doctor is super religious and prays before and after every meeting, so I am not comfortable bringing up sex.. even though I'm married!

When I read about pregnancy and the port, sounds like you can't do much to it, so am I just paranoid? I do feel pain at my port when I'm bending like that though, which means SOMETHING is happening, yea?

And it's not just sex, when I'm bending over to clean the floors, it pinches too.

My port had to be placed higher than normal so I think I understand what you are feeling....I can feel exactly where it is and it is tender especially after sex. I asked the doctor about it and he said that I may always be able to feel it more so during sex because I am using those muscles (to pull my legs that high in the air) which pushes the port closer to the surface but the tenderness should go away. He told me for now just to stop if it hurts. He also told me there was very little that I could do to actually hurt that port; basically if it is going to flip it is going to flip. Hope this helps......

So even though its tight and pinching, it's not actually ripping it out of my body? That's what I envision, and it's really a mood killer.

LOL...I hear you there. Nope, not ripping out of your body. I get that pinching feeling too, it sucks and I am roughly 8 weeks out from surgery...it is starting to slowly get better though.

You should talk to your doctor about the discomfort. I know it's not a subject we all want to talk about but hey, it's a normal life function. Even religious people have sex.

You know, I'll just be glad when I can get my legs over my head again. LOL!!

LOL.

I blame my mom really, she taught me the whole sex is bad and evil concept. Even married, I feel guilty sometimes. I get over it though ;)

But I have a hard time talking to anyone about it, even doctors.

I go Oct. 22 for a defill, and I think I'll just mention how it hurts bending over and go from there.. test the waters!

And legs going up, I am tall so I never had problems getting those things over my shoulders.

I get a twinge every now and then in that position (also a fav ;) ) But, if it is more than twinge, I would ask the dr. If it makes you feel any better, I hve to ask my obgyn about this uncomdfortable pain in my lower abdomen during an O...woohoo!

That position kills me. But it is so worth it.

I brought this question up at a support group meeting. The nurse said it was just the movement of the muscle and that as long as it wasn't severe/prolonged, it wouldn't hurt anything.

Next time try lifting your butt up a butt. Either have DH put his hands under and lift for you, or swquish a pillow or two under you. I ca't guarantee it will make any difference, but it works for me. You can do everything else the same, but having the body as a slight incline seems to make a huge difference in the pain.

Yeah, I didn't want to sound.. I dunno.. but I'm definitely not willing to give this position up, it's definitely a fav.

But honestly since banding, I find the best position (in comfort) has become doggie.. but we don't like anything routine, so I just wanted to make sure it's not something I'm doing that's going to mess my port up again.

I'll try the pillows next time under my butt, might help with the crunching motion which I think causes the problem.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
