September Sleevers- How are you feeling??

Recommended Posts

Just because your body is allowing you to eat that much, doesn't mean you should. The goal isn't to feel full, but to not be hungry. How much can you eat until the hunger goes away? Stop there. You can stretch out your stomach and the whole surgery will be defeated.

Thats what I was told as well

Thanks Reveuse! Was there a liquid one you tried as well?

I found a woman's Multi-Vitamin gummies at Walmart and B12 quick dissolve at costco also hair, skin, & nails gummies only cause I have supper long hair and my cousin had the sleeve surgery as well and she lost lots of her hair so I'm just paranoia bout that I know it's different for everyone...ok and the only pills I'm drinking are Vitamin C and Iron. I feel ok If you can't drink any pills I'd advice you to try the patches....

Incisions healed awesomely, no pain prior to leaving the hospital nor since, bm is still a concern for me but I know I am not making my requirements yet...I used the bathroom maybe 5 times since surgery (9/11)...weightloss is great except my 2 week stall, lol...still get hydrated so urination is not like prior...have you tried rubbing Vitamin E on your wounds? Never had bruising. What I hear is Caucasians are more prone to bruising...instead of lotion, try using melted coconut oil to moisturize your body while still wet in the shower. We shall get through our journey...looking forward to hearing more of your success 🖤🖤🖤

I know, I was starving the day after surgery.
I don't understand how we can be hungry with 85% of our stomach cut out.

Hello all!

Will hit the one month mark in a couple of days. Back at work on the road. Was worried about nutrition. Brought a bag of emergency rations with me. Canned tuna snack packs, Slimfast, Protein rich dry Soup. Have had scrambled eggs at Breakfast in hotel, salmon for lunch and canned tuna for dinner in room. Not hungry but having to force myself to drink Water. I forget. Bought 2 32oz bottles of water for each day so I get it in.

Also trying to walk while traveling but look forward to going to the gym!

Hi everyone. I’m new to the group. I had surgery 9/19 and it hasn’t been easy. I had an allergic reaction to the Exparel they injected into my incisions during surgery. I continue to have difficulty with maintaining fluids (goal 64 ounces per day) and Protein (goal 60 g per day). I ended up getting IVFs a week after surgery. Nausea and feeling full has been an issue. No vomiting. The frustrating part is that the scale hasn’t moved in about two weeks! I am still only getting about 400-500 calories per day and even that is pushing it most days. I return to work next week, weakness has been a major issue. I can not really tell when I’m full until it’s too late so most times when I eat, I end up miserable. I can maybe eat 1/4 cup before I feel sick. I have to choke down the Protein Shakes. I’m still at the point of wondering what the heck I did to myself.

On the plus side, my A1c is back to the pre-diabetic stage and I have been off my diabetes meds. The scale isn’t moving but my clothes are too loose. I’ve lost 20 lbs so far, but most of that was before surgery. Just wish the scale reflected all this more!

Any tips for Fluid intake or foods that are well tolerated? I’ve found some foods definitely don’t settle well, such as eggs, no matter how they are cooked.

I had surgery on 9/21. I'm down @ 10 lbs which I'm happy with. Couple of things that I'm experiencing and I want to see if I'm not alone.
1. Incisions are doing well, still a bit tender, and I had a lot of bruising at each site.
2. I've been in soft food phase and my body is definitely telling me when enough is enough, but I feel I can't even get enough Water in either. I still get discomfort and a sharp pain when I take in a little too much Water, or liquid of any kind.
3. I also have this ache in my chest, like right below my breast bone. Is that gas...heartburn? My stomach also sometimes gets hard, like when I press down I have abs of steel...lol...far from it...lol.
4. Sorry for the TMI but going to the bathroom has been difficult, really bad Constipation, my doctor said it's normal but it was over a week when I went the first time after surgery, then nothing for 5 day.
I hope someone can shed some light on this, because I hope there's nothing wrong.
Thank you all!!!

Congratulations! I have lost 13. I have experienced the same here! Constipation has been horrendous! When my pouch feels full I have tightening on my upper left side. I asked surgeon, he said that was normal. I’m so over soft foods, even though I’m never hungry. My incisions definitely tender too. Water / fluids definitely hard to get in... sounds like we are having a similar experience :) I just experienced ache in chest, right after surgery. I believe mine was gas pain. Hope it gets better for us! :)

Had my surgery sept 27, still on liquid diet, doing good! Down 30 lbs since my pre diet, great motivation to keep going! Not hungry/ missing food yet, thank goodness! Had to get on prescription acid reducers, way better now. shakes are filling, Water is going down good, no complaints. Still weak/ tired, prolly from the lack of nutrition. One day at a time;)

I had surgery the same day in the same state :) I'm sorry you are feeling crappy. Is the anxiety about the surgery and recovery or just anxiety in general?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
