Doctor called today to change from sleeve to bypass?

Yesterday was my last weight in and the doctor called to say bypass would be best for me now so it has been submitted to my ins just waiting now

thanks

Did he say why a bypass would benefit vs. a sleeve? I have a sleeve scheduled for Sept. 19th, and was wondering about the benefits of a bypass.

Good luck! For future reference (people who search and find this thread), do you mind explaining your surgeons reasoning for changing you from sleeve to bypass?

Thanks!

I have chronic acid reflex and I have a hernia the surgeon wanted to remove the hernia and do the sleeve so that after surgery the heart burn that comes with the sleeve wont be even worse, but after my endoscopy the acid in my stomach is so much worse they don't think the repair of the hernia would do much so the bypass would be best for me I currently take up to 4 40mg of nexium a day to get by with heart burn

Thank you for sharing. This will be really helpful to others who are back and forth about sleeve vs bypass because of GERD issues. Seems like your surgeon and you have a great plan.
