Best way to Stop Losing Weight

There are a variety of causes of type 2 diabeties. Simply getting old is one because receptor sites burn out. Fat blocking receptor sites is another and it seems this was your case if you saw an increase in blood sugar on HFLC. So I it's probably gonna be harder for you to increase calories without increasing quantity of food because plant based whole food isn't very calorie dense. Protein Shakes may indeed be your best bet temporarily. But you're only less than 6 months out, right? Eventually you will be able to eat more and rely more on Whole Foods if you like!

For others it's genetic or developed insulin resistance and those people need to eat low carb. They have actually identified nine types of diabeties so far. Crazy!

I didn't see an increase in my blood sugar when I was eating low carb. My point was the only reason eating low carb controlled my bs was because I was not giving my body any carbs to process. The root cause of my insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes was not cured by eating this way, the symptom ( high bs) was controlled.

I was referring to developed insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes not any other type of diabetes. I am blessed that mine has been cured with this surgery so I don't really have to worry about it now. I still use my meter to keep an eye on my bs levels, but they have been excellent.

I was 3 months post op on Aug 15th. I do think drinking an extra shake will work until I am able to eat more. I certainly don't want to stretch my stomach ( if that is even possible).

I have started adding more nuts to my Snacks so that should help. Thank you.

Ok, I totally didn't even realize you were only 3 months out. Kiss your goal goodbye.

Start thinking about your body planning on becoming 130lbs. A vegan that runs is gonna have trouble keeping even that much weight on.

And I'm not saying that with an attitude... it's just plain true.

But, you still have 40lbs before getting there, so you have time to figure things out (I sure would have to wrap my head around some things if I were told I'd be hitting 130! Lol. No worries here though... I'll end up around where you are now or heavier).

I wish I had this problem! LOL Apparently I'm just 35lbs to goal (according to my surgeon)...we shall see about that!

I love how close you are to goal though. All that running and changing your diet surely did it. I should get to running....NAAAA! Not happening, YET! One thing I know, is that you'll figure it out while enjoying it and you'll be able to teach us behind ya the way of maintaining on a WFPB diet!!! YAY!!! haha :)

What makes you think my new set point will be 130? That is what I weighed the year I graduated high school 😂.

for some reason I think it will be higher but closer to 150. That is the weight that I maintained most of my adult life in between having my kids. I was still very skinny at that weight a size 2-4. I think i look too skinny when i see old photos, but maybe my perceptions have changed?

I think you will be working this out soon enough. I am going to blaze the trail so to speak...lol.

I do think the running is keeping my metabolism high.

I weighed about 160 when I graduated from high school...nowadays I maintain a body weight that fluctuates between 118 and 122 pounds.

No one has a crystal ball to predict the weight at which your body will comfortably settle. Nonetheless, I think most of those who replied are making rather educated conjectures. :)

I have a crystal ball, but it just sits on my mantle collecting dust (actually it is a crystal globe.. very pretty ;) ).

It's true, I have no idea what your set point will be, just giving a guess based on your starting weight, current weight, and lifestyle.

I always advise people to go as low as you possibly can (while still being in a healthy range) to give yourself some wiggle room for some "bounce" weight most WLS patients experience a few years out. I bounced up 10, then stabilized. I'm glad I was low enough weight wise to where it didn't bother me much.

Oh, oh, oh..! I just needed to Celebrate for a minute! I jumped onto my hubby's laptop, where I can see my ticker, and as of today, my BMI has dipped down low enough that I would no longer qualify for weight loss surgery through insurance (Even with comorbidities!) Woo Hoo! To start out morbidly obese, then be severely obese.. now I'm just obese (class 1)! So excited!!!

I have no advice on anything but the "no butt issue".LOL I saw that and as my daughter always says SQUATS!! If you want to have a nice rear end, you have to work the muscles of the rear end. Squats and lunges.

Type in your starting weight (209 is what I put in), 5'8, and percentage lost is 125%. This shows that as of 3 months postop you would weigh 173lbs, which is what you did.

According to this calculator, you are on schedule to make it to 136lbs.

So maybe my 130 guess was a bit low ;)

That calculator is cool.

You were pretty dang close. It will be interesting to see if you or the calculator are right. I am going to be happy at 160 though and will try to level off in the 155-160 range.

Congrats!!! I know I was so happy when I was only overweight and no longer obese.

Good idea. I will have to see when I get to 160. I think my vision is distorted a little because I am so used to seeing the fat me. I need to get used to being smaller and normal again. It feels like it happened so fast.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
