I had my sleeve done 7.19 I was super nervous too! I was considering bailing even as they rolled me into the OR. I can tell you that it is all worth it in the end. Some days will be hard, some days will be great. Your emotions might be all over the place as you adjust to your new lifestyle. Keep going though! I've found that this board and personal support has really carried me through. Make sure your support system is ironclad. Each person's journey is unique and I've learned that I can't compare my gains (and losses- as the scale reports) are solely mine and no one else's. We've made the steps to better our lives, what's greater than that!!! I wish you all the best of luck, smooth surgery, quick recovery, and the best of health. Stay strong!

Don't worry it will be fine, I was nervous also but really it was ok. The best advice I can give is when you get back from recovery brush your teeth comb your hair and walk walk walk you have to get rid of the gas they put in you during the surgery. It really helps and it is better for you recovery. I had mine I week ago on the 24th I feel great!!!!! It is a tough journey but you will do it and in the end you will be so much better off. I walked all day and night bring some cute pj's and hair ties and walk !!!! that was the best advice I got. GOod luck and keep in touch

I almost decided I didn't need it , that I could do it on my own. I figured that I had my whole life to do it on my own and kept gaining back what I lost and then some. I've lost 28 lbs in 5 weeks and feel better than I ever have! You can do this!

Take a short walk, then a nice bath, condition your hair, if you have a partner ask them for a massage, sip some tea.....you can do this. Everyone is nervous.

I completely understand. I didn't really express how nervous I was to family and friends but I thought many times about not doing it. Just try to breathe and get some rest tonight. Follow doctors orders and you'll be just fine. I was sleeved on 4/20/17 and I've lost 50lbs since then 32 lost preop. The loss has also helped resolve chronic ankle pain and has alleviated a lot of anxiety. Remind yourself of the reasons that you're doing this. It's about much more then the weight, it's your health. Every change since surgery has been completely worth it.

Best of luck tomorrow!! It's the start of a very exciting journey!

You will likely be post-op when you read this but I believe taking decisive action to improve your health is important. It is not going to self correct. Last November 2016 I had my sleeve surgery. Was I nervous the night got before? You bet. Now 9 months later, I know I made the right decision. I am now at 175 and holding steady. I no longer take medication for high blood pressure and am no longer pre-diabetic. When I retire. In my opinion you are fighting to cure yourself from one of our societies greatest health problems. Congratulations!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
