Any good protein shakes ?

Recommended Posts

I'm sort of at the beginning of my pre op diet and I hate Protein Shakes it reminds me of something I used to drink when I was little callled milk of magnesia. It's so thick and nasty and they almost make me gag I've tried the Premier Protein shakes vanilla kind. Is there anything that is much less thicker ? And taste way better

Protein Shakes are definitely not known for their deliciousness. I sort of look at them as a necessary evil, lol. You can make your own at home using kefir (liquid yogurt), Protein Powder, almond milk and ice in a blender. I add peanut powder to make a Peanut Butter flavor shake, or sugar free syrups in different flavors. Or you can pour the ready to drink ones over a lot of ice which thins it as it melts. Having several different brands and flavors helped me as well. You quickly get tired of the same thing over and over, it helps to have a change.

I am also wondering if anyone could recommend a decent tasting shake. The weight loss clinic gave us 2 brands to choose from for the liver reduction diet. The first one is BioPro and the second one is Baratric fusion. I got a free sample of unflavored BioPro. It was pretty gross. I also ordered a sample pack of the Baratric Fusion. I find that adding stevia and blending it with almond milk and ice cubes makes it a bit better but not the best.

My dietician recommended Unjury (they have a chicken Soup flavor), and Premier Protein.

I bought the variety pack from Celebrate and liked all of them. I'm going to try my Unjury sample pack tomorrow. I've always liked Muscle Milk.

I bought a sample pack from JBN (Just Be Natural); ordered online (you can choose 3 flavors for $5.00). So far, I have tried the mixed berry, which was actually really good, but seemed too sweet even though sugar content is only 1 gram. The Protein content is 25 grams. I mixed the powder with non-fat milk. I also tried the French vanilla; it was just okay, but didn't really care for that flavor. Still have 4 more to try: chocolate truffle, chocolate mocha, orange cream, and malted milkshake.

I am getting sick of the super sweet shakes already (still pre-op). My nutritionist recommended a few brands. But Unjury was the one that offered a strawberry sorbet flavor (that reviews say isn't too sweet and it's not creamy) and chicken Soup. just ordered to try for myself. Some reviews mentioned mixing the strawberry sorbet with sugar free lemonade - sounds like that might be too sweet for me, but might try it. Great to have options!

I just tried the Unjury strawberry sorbet and it was really good. I'm not a fan of artificial strawberry flavors but I'd buy this one.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
