Hi Chimboree,

You said "Sometimes it's supernaturally and immediately. Other times, it comes through medicine or surgery"

I can't begin to tell you how much those 2 sentences have encouraged me and I want to thank you so much sis!!

In Him

Alfie

Alfie,

Glad to be an encouragement!! :biggrin1: I will say this surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself...and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Blessings to you!!!

Hi,

This is a great thread, I am glad I happened across it. I too am a believer. This is a wonderful tool that God has made available for us.

My surgery was October 11, not quite two weeks ago, and I have NO RESTRICTION! My first fill is November 26, PRAY FOR ME! Thanks all.

I, too, am glad I found this thread. It is a great thing. God has definitely given us the choice to us this tool for our health. HE gave us all talents, and one of them was giving doctors the special knowledge to create the lap band.

I may have said this in the other Christian bandster thread but when I was thinking about the band and if it was the right thing to do my sil who had gastric bypass said she felt that the scripture about if your hand offends you cut it off, if your eye offends you pluck it out gave her peace. Her stomach was offending her so she did what she had to.

As for me, I prayed about it, started researching bypass surgery and found out about the lapband (I think it was the Lord) then I tried to get it done with my dh's insurance and they said absolutely no bariatric surgery. So I prayed some more. I was able to pick up insurance at my job, I qualified and it paid 100%. I feel it was God the whole time. He just kept opening doors. I feel very blessed to have the band.

Hi All ! :) I was just wanting to get in here too ! PTL for the band ! I also wish that it would have been available to me 10-15 years ago, but it's here now and with God's help is working some miracles in my life. I am off one of my BP meds , I've started singing in our praise group at church due to not feeling so self-conscious anymore. :) That's something I haven't done for years and missed. I also do more w/ my 3 DD's now. I had lost restriction a few months ago and we are checking for a leak , but the last 2 fills are still there, the dr. just doesn't know where the first 2cc's went to. i am getting some restriction back again now tho. So , please keep me in your prayers that it was just some fluke, not a leak - which would mean another surgery, and that I will begin losing again. I still have 65-70 lbs to go. I'm thinking and praying for those of you having surgery this week. May you have a quick and pain-free recovery ! Have a great day everyone !

Wow StephC,

What a testimony! My DH's ins. would not cover any bariatric treatment either. We are very fortunate that we could self-pay. I believe that God wants us to be our best for Him. And HE created men who were intellegent enough to invent things like LapBand, artificial heart, things of that nature. It is up to us to follow His will forus.

I have been banded for 2 weeks (tomorrow makes 2 weeks anyway) and I have been struggling with the fact that the swelling is down and I have no restriction at this point.

Please pray for me. Ihave been praying, and aside from a few questionable things eaten, I am doing fine. It is hard when we have this hunger, and the habit of eating too much.

I praise God for all He has given to me and my family.

Thanks for listening!

Dana

I would love to talk with other Christians regarding the lap band surgery. I had my surgery done October 8, 2007. I have not gone for my post-op yet. I am going on October 25. Please keep me in your prayers as I get discouraged very easy. I will keep all of you in my prayers. God Bless!

Ann Marie

Can I join too?

I had my surgery in May and have yet to get a fill. I'm not currently losing right now but I'm not gaining either. I spent the last 18 months trying to have my surgery approved and a series of events lead to my cobra ending and my attorney wasn't able to appeal-- ultimately I was denied. When my blood pressure skyrocketed to 176/78 I decided that I needed a lapband immediately. I took out a loan and within days I had my date. I'm not a drama queen but this year has had more than it's share of drama. I live in Westminster Ca and am in the midst of these horrible fire storms. My Mom lives in Santa Barbara and they have 5 fires in her area too. Could I be the first to ask for prayer? The winds have finally quieted and the air doesn't taste smokey today. 2 days ago, it was really bad. Thank you for starting this thread. I kinda needed to talk to some brothers & sisters. God Bless

Cindy, good to see you on this thread! I recognise a few of the other names as well. Some from the Christian thread that went silent for some reason...hopefully this one will stick!

Patty, how much have you lost? We have a May Bandsters thread that you might enjoy. It is my favorite thread. Everyone is so supportive. I had my surg in May too. I have managed to loose around 40 lbs. (I won't know till I wgh in on the 1rst) (I only wgh in once a month) I have had 4 fills. I can still eat my cup or two...but the band has helped me so much.

I am so sorry about the fires in CA and me and a bunch of friends are prayings.

Blessings, Weazer

Paragirl - what you are feeling is normal. When you get your first adjustment you'll feel the restriction. I remember begging my dr for a fill at 4 weeks but he didn't budge. At 6 weeks I got my first fill but since then I've had to get 5 more. Everyone is different. Theres a man from my dr's office who has had his band over a year and is close to goal and has never had a fill, then theres me whos had 6 in the past 10 months.

Dutchgrl - of course we'll pray for you. Those fires in CA are frightening!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
