Vitamins forever is true.
Diarrhea, doubtful. My sister has no issue with this. She had RNY years ago and is fine.

Pretty important due to the malabsorption. You need to go to a reputable site and do some research so you can know if you are up for the commitment this surgery or any WLS will require.

Missing a single day of Vitamins is no big deal, but missing a month will likely leave some gaps in your nutrition.

In my opinion, everyone on Earth, for the most part, need vitamins. Our food supply is wholey deficient. In the US, our vegetables only have 1/2 to 2/3 of the Vitamin content that they did just 50 years ago. Which means we need to eat 1/3 to twice as much. No wonder we're all becoming obese!

you have to take Vitamins for life with any weight loss surgery - some surgeries require more than others, but they're required for all

lifelong diarrhea is very rare. Rather, most of us struggle with the opposite problem - Constipation. You get that issue with the sleeve as well. It's due to the diet (high protein/low carb) and some of the supplements (like Iron and calcium)

Have to take Vitamins most days for rest of life. As for diarrhea no that only happens when dumping and usually passes after 1 year. Dumping happens when eating too much sugar and fat. I'm almost 2 years post op and very rarely dump.

Really? Vitamins every day for the rest of my life? How iporant is it to remember these every single day? I'm really bad for rembering to take tablets

Don't do surgery if you won't take your vitamins as you'll end up with a deficiency which will affect your health and energy levels.

You have a source for this bit of info? I have never heard of this and would like to read more.

found some info. Very interesting and just reinforces a habit we have already. Buying local whenever possible is better. Especially now concerning vegetables.

Fifteen months post RNY surgery. Never once had dumping syndrome or diarrhea. I can eat almost anything I want. I do take Vitamin D. My bone density perfect. It has been very easy for me.

Looks like you found one. I originally read an article in National Geographic (pretty sure), but can't find it just now...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
