Liver Shrinking Diet - 45 grams of carbs

Hi everyone! I just started the "Liver Shrinking diet" prior to surgery. We are to have no more than 45 carbs per day, and I'm having a hard time with it. I keep thinking, if I can't do this, I am going to die for sure on the ten day liquid diet right before surgery! Any pointers anyone?

My plan only allows 30grams of carbs a day; it was not a liquid diet though. It's doable!! I'm also a type 2 diabetic and I thought it would be rough but I was ok on Day 2. Good Luck!

Ten days prior to surgery, I will only be able to have 3 shakes a day and clear liquids. That's why I guess I was kind of freaking a little today. I mean, this is just day one of the low carb diet, so

Count net carbs, subtracting the fiber. You will find you have a lot more carbs to work with than you think.

I am on my first day of my liver shrink diet. The Doctor provided optifast shakes and I have Five a day they each have 20 carbs that's 100 a day. Really strange how doctors differ on this diet..

45 grams of carbs seems really generous. I was allowed 3 shakes a day.

What is hard about it to you?

I mean, this is just day one of the low carb diet, so overall, I have done well today. I guess I just didn't realize how just about everything has carbs in it! I kind of tripped out when I saw that even my vitamins have carbs! Lol!

I know what you mean.... I had to go grocery shopping today, and not just for myself. It sucks when you're the only one in the house that's on a strict diet. But like you said, we can do this [emoji4]

It is actually getting a lot easier carb wise. But I have noticed that my sodium intake is way too high, so I have to start working on that too...
