Any suggestions for getting rid of weakness? I'm 5 weeks post op and it seems like when I eat a popsicle (which I only eat half of each time) the weakness goes away, til I take a nap and wake up and it's there again.
And is it normal that each time I see a picture of food I get repulsed by it and want to throw up? Each time I see Pasta or rice, I just frown at it. When I think about going out somewhere to eat, I get discouraged and think "How am I supposed to eat that? Their servings are enough to feed two people at one time." It just bothers me because I hate wasting food and that's all I do now. Once I'm full, I don't go back and finish my plate later, I just throw it away because of said reason and because I hate having the same thing twice now....

Hi, I am so hit a wall and to look or think about meat, Pasta, or fried food made me sick. All the things I use to eat now is yucky to me and so much wasted food as well. But there hope! I had to learn a new way. I had a good friend who is a health nut who I asked help me to eat differently. Teach me about seeds, Beans, lintels, Soups, salads. Vege smotties, Bone Broth is amazing for Protein. My stomach is happier when I don't eat any heavy foods and I can eat about 15 to 20 bits of light food as to 3 to 4 bits with heavy foods. Also went to YouTube for cooking recipes. It taken some time to learn but now I feel more in control from all the direct taste I am learning to like and adjusting some recipes to my liking. I always carry food with of Protein Powder in my purse just in case I end up in restaurant that I don't like menu and I do my Protein Drink instead. I make all my meals so I don't waste food because it does bother me too. I also learned to start freezing meals so in a much later time I can have again. Seems now with this new life style is all about slowing down and taking time to plan out meals and only eat nutrition foods. I still have a lot to learn but this is my year to learn and make health #1 in my daily life. We are worth it and the Internet make it so much easer. I'm 6 months out from RNY surgery lost 85 lbs. it's getting easer the more I practice and apply what I'm learning. Take it day to day and be easy on yourself, you did a huge step in doing this life changing surgery and now the rest of you needs to catch up. Wish you the best! Lisa

My energy level has stayed high, I take juice plus for Vitamins. B12 spray, that's all beside the food I eat for Vitamin. Google Bone Broth, it also is the most natural Protein and good nutrition. I love it and easy to make. I also got into kombucha for Probiotics. Love the taste.

I relate. Everything made me nauseous. The thought of any food was repulsive. I'm seven weeks out now. You do have to get that Protein in, and the Vitamins. Are you getting enough Water?
It is challenging to learn to fix smaller portions, to take smaller portions. I have learned to measure out what I think I "should" eat. Usually, I can't eat it all. At least I waste less that way.

I am also having a hard time eating leftovers.
I've eaten out a few times. Don't watch other people order and eat. Just order an appetizer or something ala carte. Sometimes I just take a few bites off of my husband's plate. It's that or be prepared to take home food and have leftovers.
It does get better. The main thing for energy is getting all of that protein in. I still struggle with that each day.

I find that my energy comes back the more active I am. If I get dressed, put on makeup and do my hair first, I actually feel better and just go out and walk at the mall or someplace. I can't believe the difference in how i feel. I still can only get two bottles of eater a day in but just going into my fourth week. Drink a 30 g Premier Protein every morning. I can't handle Protein Drinks made with powders. If I just sit around the house and don't get dressed, I find I have no energy whatsoever! Luckily I have never had any nausea or pain so I don't have to worry about that.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
