Foods you can't eat?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys..I just have a question out there.. For those of you who have had the lap band surgery...what foods have you found that you are no longer able to eat e.g. red meat, bread.

I haven't had the surgery yet and am interested to know which foods I'll need to avoid.:hungry:

So far there is nothing I cannot eat yet, but I have not had a fill yet so that may change-can eat anything in the right portions.

I fear doughy foods. Yeast rolls and doughnuts come to mind.

When I go to a restaurant I will cut the top of the roll off , slather the butter on and enjoy that piece.

The only thing I've eaten that's given me pause (literally) was an I'M-LATE Peanut Butter and toast Breakfast. I ate too fast without liquids, and it took a good 30 seconds for one gob-sized bite to pass.

I have spit out bits of fibrous veggies (celery, asparagus). I didn't have a problem with them, I just couldn't seem to chew them well enough to break up the stringy fibers. Better safe than sorry.

I can't eat soft breads, tortillas and flat bread are good. I can eat crackers but I choose not to eat any except 100% whole grain Kashi crackers which are healthier than your average cracker. No saturated fats and whole grains. I sometimes have a problem with eggs, I need to chew the whites up real good or they seem to get stuck. I don't do any read meat except for ground hamburger because by the time you finish chewing it it's the consistency of dog food. I have to really be careful with raw carrots and chew them up. Everyone is different depending on the restriction with their fill. The first year has a learning curve and you'll figure out what works for you. Good Luck!

What I can eat one day can totally come back on me the next. Eating slower and chewing better help. There are a few things that never seem to go down like bread, donuts, tortillas, chicken (even chunky chicken salad) steak, pork chops, Pasta and sushi. I havn't had trouble with much else.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
