I am less than one week away from starting my liquid diet. Less than two weeks away from surgery. I have honestly been looking forward to this liquid diet because I know it will jumpstart me and help me lose a little bit of weight before surgery. I feel very prepared both mentally and with a stocked pantry. However, I hear the struggles here of others during their liquid diet, (so maybe I'm wrong and I'm going to struggle?)

so I'd like to ask for tips and tricks, tell me how you got through it. Was it easy for you? Hard? What was the most difficult part for you. I know everyone's experience is different. Tell me everything

Sorry no one has responded to you, I cant help as my surgeon only required 1 day of a liquid diet before surgery. You may be better off searching liquid diet, click on a discussion thats already in the works, instead of starting a new thread. That way anyone who has responded to that thread will get a notification and you may be able to get more responses. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!![emoji4]

liquid diet huh. Popsicles really got me through it and Jello. chicken broth when I needed something savory. But it was still hard. Especially after surgery cause the taste of the whey made me cringe and my blood sugar was so low I would just lay around. x.x BUT the popsicles were a godsend XD;

Which campbells soups? All I've seen has SO much sodium and I've already got high BP [emoji23]
But I do love soup!

I intend to make and freeze my own Bone Broth that way I control what is in it. I bought several kinds of Liquid Protein and shakes to try, as I am preop and didn't want to buy a big container and not like it. I bought Jay Robb, Premier Protein, Isopure and a couple others, I already have lots of Jello stocked up. I will buy sf popsicles closer to actual preop diet (10 days with last 2 of no calorie clear liquid). And I intend to stay busy with hobbies and fix meals for the family that I don't care about missing and it isn't forever.

How has your blood sugar been since? I'm a little concerned about this after surgery. I love sugar free popcicles and sugar free Jello as well!

Hello, I'm currently on my two week liquid diet and day 3 was as bad as I was warned it would be. But it will pass! Hang in there. I love sugar free popcicles and sugar free Jello. And if I feel jittery, I dilute some G2 or Propel in my Water and that helps with electrolytes. Best of luck, you can do this!!

Right after the surgery because of the anesthesia and such it was super high. I had to be given insulin while I was in recovery(apparently that's normal). Now granted pre surgery I had just found out I had (type 2) diabetes. After surgery I would wake up and my morning readings would be in the 70s which was way too low. I had to actually eat some normal popsicles to get it back up(because at the time that's what my surgeon suggested). Now I wake up and it's about 90-98 pretty normal readings and I've switched back over to sugar free cause I want to keep it that way! XD hope this helps!

My wife is doing her liquid diet at the moment, the first few days were hard then she started to get in a rhythm. On day two I reminded her that this is the last time she will ever be this hungry and the closer she stuck to the diet, the better the surgery and overall outcome will be. She's done great, the popsicles and Jello really help as well as various low calorie drinks such as g2, Vitamin Water, propel, etc. I'll be starting my liquid diet in about 3 weeks.

My surgery was last December. I was on a five day clear liquid diet. That was hard. About a week after surgery I was put on Protein Drink. Because of diabetes I was drinking glucerna, but I've long switched to the Atkins. 15 grams of Protein and only one carb per shake. I still drink one when I'm running late in the morning or sometimes as a small Meal Replacement. My A1C level has dropped to normal (which was the number one reason for getting the surgery).

I would really take a look at the sugar content of anything you drink. If the carb number is greater than the protein, I'd look for something different.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
