I was sleeved 5/1. The best way they explained it to me was to sip fluids from a **** glass. One ounce every 30 minutes but slowly working your way to three ounces ever 30 minutes.

I too have has massive gas, but it gets better every day. I find walking really helps take a slow stroll around the block or if it's raining walk around your house. The gas will come.

I've almost had my 64 ounces today. I'll probably be well over. My sister also bought me the sugar free popsicles in red only flavors. Big fan!

I just tried some chicken Bone Broth (BJs sells it) 9 grams of Protein in one cup. I mixed it with pureed carrot ginger Soup (Whole Foods). It was delicious!

I had my surgery on 5/3 and was never more miserable post op in my life. My procedure was much longer because my stomach had attached itself to my liver and they had to separate them. This was from a badly botched gallbladder removal surgery 3 years ago. I have 6 laparoscopic incisions which look a mess. Because the surgery took longer more air was introduced i to my abdomen. I looked like a balloon ready to pop! I am just now getting over the nausea and vomiting. When they gave me that horrible dye for my upper GI scan I thought I'd lose it right there. I managed to get thru it and barely made it back to my room before throwing up. I'll telling y'all this because misery loves company and I think many of us newbs are dealing with these same horrible conditions. On too of everything else I've only lost a pound! I go to counseling for emotional eating issues and it helps a lot. I'm taking everything one day at a time and hoping for the best. Hang in there guys I've heard from everyone that the first weeks are the toughest.

One of the funniest things about this surgery for me was getting applauded by the nursing staff every time I burped or past gas. As I was walking around the ward and they would hear my burp or fart they yell "good one" "keep it going" kind of made me laugh - and honestly, next to your liquids its the most important thing you can do - it gets the gas out of your system that is pumped in from the laparoscopic surgery, and helps disseminate the referred pain. The gas puts pressure on your diaphragm, and that is where your venus nerve is, the pressure on the venus nerve cause extreme pain in your left shoulder. They call this diaphragmatic (sp) refered pain I was in agony for weeks after my band in 2005 - had very little pain this time around by still some - still had to burp and pass gas - so my advice to everyone is stand back, walk, burp, fart and enjoy it...

I've made it up to 57 oz. I'm hoping I can hit 64 oz today.

I was sleeved on May 1st. Been rocking the fluids and doing well with Protein Shakes. Crystal Light lemonade goes down really well and it's tasty. Try that if you haven't. Pour your drinks into cups rather than drinking from the bottle. It helps. Less air, I think. Protein shakes were a little rough, causing lots of gurgling the first couple days, now much better. I was told to try to get in 3x6 or 8oz servings of Protein Shake per day as a goal. Was NOT meeting that at first, now I am. You can even make popsicles out of protein shakes, too. broth goes down easily. I use the powdered Soup base from Orrington Farms. SO GOOD! I'm liking the flavored stuff better than just plain Water right now and I was a huge water drinker pre-op. Fluids are most important right now, otherwise, you will end up dehydrated and back on IV fluids. Protein shakes do count as part of your daily Fluid intake.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
