We have stuff like that in the UK. One City wanted Christmas to be called Winterval.

One scholl is wanting to ban Halloween because it is offensive to Devout Christians.

What next?

The English on this mainly US site is far superior to that I see on the U K sites, however we must take into account that we all make typing errors.

Sorry Jack there is no such word.

Derek You give me credit for being smarter than I am. I like your sense of humour though!

Derick,

I thought you meant a version of "smarmy" (unctuously flattering) with you slippery, oily tongue.:whoo::clap2:

It was good for a laugh and got many of us, or maybe only some of us looking in our dictionaries. That is a good thing.:)

The forces of Politickal Korrectness have been active in Ontario, Canada for some years now. We certainly are a multi-cultural society but it is also true that many of the original and still dominant folkways of our culture do involve Christian-based activities: Christmas and Easter are and have always been big celebrations in both Canadian and American culture. They are also holidays which have long since joined the category of cultural folkways since many, if not most people choose to Celebrate these paid breaks from work in an entirely secular fashion; they do this by eating well, decorating trees, swapping presents, and eating chocolate eggs and rabbits. As you can see, these two holidays have come to be secular holidays and devout Christians are none too happy about that.

Of course these holidays were originally pagan holidays and had been co-opted by that new cult, Christianity, as it was seeking to expand and draw in new converts. But none of this matters anymore. In the paranoid, politikally korrect state which Ontario, Canada has become the state will resort to goofiest of measures to avoid mentioning such words as Christmastime or Christmas holidays. School teachers always suffer the most during these annual games of it's not Christmas and it's not Easter.

We find that officials who decide that we should no longer Celebrate our traditions be they pagan, christian or secular, do so because they do not want to upset people who have other religions, but the people who have other religions do not really mind us celebrating. In fact they encourage us to celebrate. For centuries Britain has had religious tolerance, that is one of the great things about living here, and I should think Canada as well.

I can well understand about PC (PK in Canada) as my Canadian friend always sends a "Happy Holidays" card at a certain time in the year which shall remain nameless.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
