May 30, and I could really use a buddy to go through the pre-op with. I started this journey in November, but there were some mixups that had me waiting around for months without knowing if I were really going to get a surgery date. Now that I have one, I need to get my head and heart prepared in a month. Anybody getting the procedure done at the end of May?

Mine is May 31st very close..

Is anyone starting to get nervous?? And second guess their decision. I've been so excited and determined to do this, and just today I'm getting super nervous wondering if I'm doing the right thing :/

Was weepy last night and this morning. Even thought about waking my husband and telling him I couldn't go through with it. Had to stop and meditate, did some journaling to remember why I made this choice. It helped a lot. Still nervous, of course, and have a feeling I'm gonna need the last of my ativan to make it the next 3 days, lol.

See. I think I need to do the same. Because I know it's best for me. It's just I'm second guessing being able to get through it.

Yeah. I want to say it's normal. I mean, if you think about it, we're heading in willingly in for a surgical procedure that's pretty much going to make us miserable for a bit of time. I think we must be crazy! (or masochists.)

I reminded myself in my journal though, I have to accept the fact that it's probably going to be painful, and miserable, and that was ok. The end goal was something very worth it all, and any fears of failure, and complications are such a small chance. I can't let my fear win. That's what I'm trying to focus on.

Today is my last liquid diet day and tomorrow is surgery. I am a bit nervous, but not rethinking my decision to do this. At this point I would just like some real food, never thought I would be excited about pureed food in 2 weeks!

My surgery is scheduled for May 15th 2017 and I am so excited! However, my doctor does not have me on an all-liquid diet. Instead, I am on a high Protein, low fat, no sugar/Carb diet 2 weeks before surgery. I was a bit concerned because I had never heard of this before. He explained the 2-week diet beforehand is only to make my liver smaller and the same can be accomplished with the 2-week diet he provided. Has anyone else ever heard of a doctor doing this?

EDIT Sorry seems like i found the answer to this after reading all posts lol. Anyone out there scheduled for the 15th?

I am on the 15th and my surgeon has me on 2 days of Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch and a lean Protein meat and veggies for dinner. The day before surgery Clear Liquids only.

I'm May 30 as well. Haven't received any pre-op diet information yet. I started this process only a month ago, so I'm struggling a bit with how fast it's going. A little worried that I'm rushing this whole thing.

Hi all, I did so much research before this process but a 2 weeks pre op diet is normal. Being over weight means our liver is large by reducing the size of the liver it makes the surgery far easier to do and the possibility of less complications. Good luck all. I am now 1 month post op[emoji3]

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
