Hello, I need some help. I am looking into getting a band to sleeve revision. I really wanted to go to Mexico and get this done but unfortunately my dad, who is going to help me finance this adventure, will help me if I go to Mexico. I pleaded and pleaded my case that is was just as safe but he wouldn't listen, Over protective dads, even when the kids are all grown up..lol. Well anyways, I am looking for an affordable self pay revision surgeon. I am not meaning a cheap surgeon just someone who is reasonably affordable. I live in Utah and it is super expensive here. The lowest I can find is $18,000 and the highest is 22,000. I know that there has to be a slightly lower option out there. If any of you awesome people out there know of anyone please let me know. I don't mind to travel, a small vacation would be nice! Thanks everyone

Hi there, I had a band to sleeve conversion so have to tell you that I think it was the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. That said, I was lucky to have mine covered by insurance. Is your dad able to help you to the tune of $18,000? If so, go for having it locally. If not, can you do it on the sly without him knowing you went to Mexico? If not and he refuses to help even if you show him data about successful surgeries in Mexico, you may have to finance it. I hope he comes around. Good luck!

I don't know your circumstances of your finaces but...if you have to go with the States yu could get help from CareCredit. It is a insureance that covers pets, or your surgery. I hope everything works out for you and if your dad is set on the states let him pay for it and make arrangements to pay him back in installments or something. I can tell you to not go thru BELITE WEIGHT LOSS SITE. We went to Juarez, Mexico and didn't have much as was promised. I have heard good things about this site tho. Good luck

Honestly, it would be cheaper to make a preop trip to Tijuana to "check things out", and use Dr. Illan, then to go anywhere in the US. If he still didn't want Mexico, at least you get a vacation out of it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
