Ok, I heard about GENEPRO from this site. I have been using it post op but not long enough to have a real opinion on how good it is (even though it is pretty good dissolving into anything and tasteless) BUT I have been seeing posts saying it is not actually the amount of Protein it claims. Besides that, has anyone ever heard or have any actual evidence that it is unsafe or dangerous to use? I appreciate any fact based information (not really interested in information about the amount of protein being misrepresented although I understand that is not ideal for people counting protein grams) Thank you!

I count it as 20 grams not 30 per scoop

It's safe to use, just pointless.

Why did I just bust out laughing with this comment? :D I agree it's pointless too.

@Christina.Rose - I feel as though I should explain a little better. A short answer like the one I gave doesn't really help you any. And if you have tried searching on this site, you probably aren't having much luck with the abysmal search function this place has. Here is a better explanation of my opinion from an earlier post:

What would you suggest for unflavored Protein Powder for newly sleeved people imstead of GENEPRO? Im getting sleeved on Friday and now have no problem with Premier, but worried because so many people say their tastes have changed. I like being prepared.

I had zero luck with any of the unflavored powders. They were all vile unless I mixed them with strong Soups like Tomato or curried lentil.

What I do recommend is finding a place called Vitamin Shoppe if there is one around you. They are incredibly helpful. But best of all, if you buy any Protein powder from then and don't like it for ANY REASON, return it for full value in-store credit. I told them about my surgery and they never one questioned me when I returned many different powders.

Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling.

I used it and it saved my life. I was down to only getting between 200 & 300 calories per day after surgery during weeks 4-6 and dangerously low blood pressure levels when I found gene pro from a vsg lady I follow on Instagram her name is vsgchelsea. I took it and felt better & was able to function at work, hope you find one that works for you.

'Bio Chem' due to no sugar and no fat, low sodium and also high potassium. It's 20 grams of Protein and 90 calories a serving. Perfect for me.

Is this a shake or a powder? Flavored?

I was using GENEPRO and liked it didn't have a taste. But my NUT said stop!!! That it's impossible to have 30g of Protein in one tablespoon. She strongly advised me to switch back to Unjury unflavored. I like it I guess. I also like unjury chocolate. Pure protein is good too. I like switching it around

Thanks Nancy

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
