Losing weight with no exercise

Recommended Posts

Hello,

So when I was exercising I was losing little to no weight and now that I have stopped I am losing around 2kgs (4pounds) a week and now I'm scared to go back to the gym incase I stop losing weight.

Has this happened to any of you ladies??

Thanks

Congrats on the weight loss. Hope you're still doing some exercise at home and boosting your Protein intake, to ensure you're not losing muscle..

I lost weight with just walking. I didn't go to the gym. Did the odd yoga class.

I have regular DEXA scans and I lost very little muscle, like 3 pounds, which the Dr told me was normal just because you don't need as much muscle to carry less weight around.

I kept my Protein over 100 grams a day though, if you are living off 60 grams of protein and not working out, you are going to lose muscle.

If you just want to drop weight fast, you drop weight faster not exercising. There are a lot of studies on the lack of effectiveness of exercise for weight loss. Google and do your own research.

Exercise has a lot of benefits other than weight loss. It improves heart health, lung function, blood sugar, bone density, joint strength, and lowers the risk of depression, stroke, and many types of cancer. It also helps to tone the body so that, having lost weight, you're not flabby and weak.

You didn't not lose weight because you were exercising. You won't lose weight because you are exercising. But there's a lot of other benefits, and I can all but guarantee that if you don't exercise, you will not maintain weight loss down the road.

A wise soul once told me "you lose weight to look good in clothes. You work out to look good naked." I agree!

It is just funny that so many people do not think exercise is important to long term physical and emotional health. Read the studies and make a choice. If you can walk a little more each day that alone can make a big difference. I am in the gym 5/7. When I have stress, I beat the heck out of the gym bag commonly referred to as "Bob." My life my way!

I have done my own research and wanted the opinion from others that can relate [emoji4] thanks

When most people think of exercise they think of being in the gym. I hate being indoors. I hate gyms. I walked 2 to 10 miles a day outside almost all of last year, averaging 5 miles a day.

I think if more people considered other forms of activity besides the gym they would be better off.

Exercise and activity are great for mental health and physical well being but exercise is not necessary for weight loss. Exercise can be counter productive because it stimulates the appetite and in some people strenuous exercise triggers stress and stress hormones.

I used to kill myself in the gym and barely ever lost any weight. Just walking the weight melted off.

I am only walking. Once I get to my goal, then I am going to implement strength training to add on muscle. I am really lucky that even with a 180 pound and counting loss, I have very little loose skin (some under my arms, some on my inner thighs, and some on my belly -- but nothing really bad). Emotionally, I just can't deal with the effect that kind of routine would have on the scale right now (even though, academically, I know I would still be losing fat).

To each his or her own though...

Did you know that just doing a ten min intentional walk/exercise is all you need daily for the heart, etc?

I love exercising. I love pumping the Iron. :) But I also know, it's not going to get me where I want to be any faster, since it's only 20% of my total physique. Diet alone is the big one, 80% of it. That's where the real difference comes in. BUT "a body in motion, stays in motion." Need that 20% too. Doesn't have to be extreme.

Part of the reason i converted to the sleeve was because no matter how i controlled my diet i wasn't losing weight. I was in the gym 5 days a week and it just wasn't coming off. My guess is i probably wasn't eating enough and my body was really in a storing phase because i wasn't accounting for the calories i used while working out.

I went to the liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery, within a week i had no strength for the gym. While i'm heavy, i had a lot of solid muscle. Over the next 3 weeks after surgery, i was losing fast, but also losing all the muscle and toning i had. At 3 weeks post-op, i was allowed to return to the gym. I'm still losing but i'm also gaining the muscle back. I think it comes down to what we each want personally. For me, i'm ok if the weight slows down a bit because i'm building and toning muscle at the same time and i missed the gym. That's my alone time and at 5 a.m. it bothers no one else in the family cause they are all still in bed...LOL My trainer swears though the weight might not fall off as quick, the inches will and the toning will be noticed. Others may want the weight off quicker and hope to rebuild after the loss. Perhaps look at how you want to lose the weight and what makes you happy, then if you opt to go back to the gym make sure you touch base with your nutritionist and trainer so you are on the same page in working towards your goal. Just make sure you account for the expended calories at the gym and get your Protein in. Good Luck!

You are lucky! I lost about 20 pounds without exercise but now I've had to work for every pound since! It's frustrating. I just walk and I'm just starting to run. I know I look crazy running for a minute then walking, then running a minute more. [emoji23] baby steps but I will be running my first marathon by next year, that's my goal. I find my carb count effects my weight loss more than anything.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
