Chew able Vitamins?

Recommended Posts

So just curious what chewable you guys use or do you use a dissolve-able all around Vitamin? I have not had surgery yet but trying to get used to the chewy Vitamins. Which one has the best taste? Aftertaste?

I have used the Celebrate brand of multi with Iron (forest berry flavor), chewable tablet. It tastes ok. But now I have switched to the multi capsules (now that I can swallow at 14 weeks post op). I still take the Celebrate brand of Calcium with Vitamin D-3 and the flavor is orange burst. They are okay.... not crazy about the flavor. I also tried the Bariatric Advantage chocolate soft chews, they were real tasty, but I decided they were too high in calories and carbs for me and I switched back to the Celebrate brand for Calcium.

At my pre-op class they gave us a little bag with different Vitamins to try and that's how I made my decision to go with the Celebrate brand. I am sure there are a lot of different ones to choose from.

I was told that we should not do Vitamin gummies as they didn't have the appropriate nutrients for us after bariatric surgery. I think it's important to go with the bariatric Vitamins after surgery, and not just your regular vitamins that you would find at a grocery store.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
