just sleeved 2/10 and can barely reach my liquid intake

I also cannot have a bowel movement. Been drinking "smooth move" herbal tea today and I just took a suppository.

If possible, I suggest Miralax or one of the generics. I didn't finally started taking a week out with no bowel movement. It worked pretty quickly after 2 doses.

I am sorry you're struggling. It is scary when so many changes have taken place so dramatically. I was sleeved on 2/6/2017 and Wow..talk about shock to the body.

On day one, it was a joke that the nurses wanted me to drink 1 oz ever 15 minutes. On day 3, I was able to drink 25 ounces in a day. on day 5 I got 53 oz in a day, on day 6, I finally went poop, day 7 got my first 60 g of Protein, and on day 8 I couldn't poop anymore...

What a roller coaster it has been. Today I feel more like myself. I woke up with my tummy telling me it was time to eat. I love to mix my chocolate and banana shake together for a yummy change...HA!

My reflux has subsided, my gas is gone and finally my tummy spasms have stopped. I started taking liight walks at about day 4.

Each time a symptom or something came up weird, i searched this board for other experiences. I haven't come across one that someone else hasn't had. That is very soothing to my fear.

Each day will get better, some days may be harder but it was very brave to do what you have done. That bravery will carry you through the tough days.

Take care

Benefibre. 2 tsps in your morning cuppa and you'll have soft stools without any problems. Some people don't poo but once a week after the op. I go every day. Once only, though.

Hey I had my surgery on 1/30, I had the same problem the first few days. Basically I had to wait for the swelling to go down in my stomach. Just keep sipping!

Just remember, you just gad major surgery!! Your stomach area is still swollen.you will not reach the requirement until that swelling goes down. You wont get your food intake either. Those are goals to get to! Just like everything else! Sip, sip, sip. Youll be fine! Im 4 years on june 24 '17.

How long does it take for the swelling to go down?

I'm 2 weeks in and still can't get 2 Protein Shakes in and a bottle of water! It's tough and not feeling hungry doesn't signal the plane! Take it one day at a time, it gets better I am told ....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
