Feb 2017 sleevers - how's everyone doing post-op?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on feb 22, I'm doing great. I have a lot more energy, I enjoy going for walks now. So far I've lost 42lbs. I'm no longer in the 300s. I love my new lifestyle.[emoji5]

I was sleeved 2/9/17 I have had a really tough road, dehydration has been extreme problem for me I have been hospitalized twice due to it. I have had a constant UTI/Bladder/Kidney Infections. Now my sciatica nerve is an issue. I have went from 294 to 256 doctor says I've blown it out of the Water but I don't feel like it. I have chosen to see a psychologist because that part is so hard for me. I have actually already started testing myself but I seen it's a problem so trying to overcome. I don't regret it one bit just taking me a little longer to enjoy the effects

I'm going through the same thing. Except I think I'm having severe anxiety along with it. I'm only 12 days out and have been seen twice for dehydration and currently being treated for a kidney infection. I had excruciating pain in my right side. I'm living in a constant state of fear. Like something is going to happen. I'm reaching out to my psych doctor tomorrow. I want to enjoy this but I'm scared to.

Sleeved 2/28/17

Dehydration has not been a problem despite the fact that I find it hard to drink the amount of fluids recommended. My problem is hunger. I'm hungry most of the day and it is NOT "head" hunger. I have stomach pangs and it is totally distracting and discouraging. I try antacids and they sometimes work for short intervals. My NP says that she is surprised, that most of her patients tell her they forget to eat because they are never hungry. Lucky them!!

If you need to get more fluids in, it is very hard with the 30 min before, 60 min after a meal rule. I know the problem well. I am tempted to get one of those rigs that runners use to drink while running, the kind that are on a headset.

Sleeved on the 9th of Feb. very little pain aside from gas pain in left shoulder which passed when drain was pulled. I felt very hungry everyday until I switched from Prilosec to Zantac.

I was sleeved on 3-28-17 and surgery weight was 528. I'm large framed and 6'2". Lap band 3 years ago failed and was removed. On clear liquid diet with 1oz of Jello 3 times a day. At first doctor visit 2 weeks later I lost 40 pounds. But have been to weak to walk much and get dry heaves. Not fun! These next 2 weeks is full liquid but I advanced it 1 week and added 2oz of scrambled eggs and have more energy and don't get sick. I hate all Protein Drinks and used to love the taste but makes me gag now. I get my 64 oz of fluids in and barely 60-80 grams of Protein in. Glad I did it but am a bit impatient. My goal weight is 230.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
