mmmk, how exciting that you are one week out. I wish my surgery was sooner than April 11th. Do you feel prepared? I do not have to do a preop diet, just 1 day before surgery he wants me to have Clear liquids. I keep reading that the week after can be hard, but I hope to hear from you that all goes great. Did you stock up on stuff you will need the week after? I have to drive 6 1/2 hours for my surgery and my husband is going with me. Good luck!

I felt prepared until my nutritionist appt today. She was like whoa it's a week away?! So now I'm wondering if I'm missing something because it seemed pretty straightforward. I think she's just used to having insurance patients who had to meet with her like a year earlier. I don't have everything yet but am doing it in my hometown and staying with my dad and stepmom for a week after, so I think that will help make it easier. I don't want to buy too much of any one product since so many report major taste changes. I do need to order a food scale, shaker bottle, and probably a magic bullet- type thing for weeks 2 on though.

My doctor also said I should just eat healthy low carb high Protein up until the day before surgery, but then they sent me the liquid diet sheet. I'm gonna start following that tomorrow at least for the most part because hey, why not start the weight loss early if I can, now that I'll have a way to keep it off!

For those of you who have been sleeved for a while, do you have a lot of extra skin. My bmi is 40 and wondering how bad I should expect it. Also, didyou do anything to prevent saggy skin?

My bmi was 33 I think - my stomach doesn't look great- shockingly my inner thighs have a little bit - I was surprised because my legs have always been the smallest thing on me. I personally think there isn't Much you can do to prevent.

Hi, have you had your surgery? My BMI is right at 30 and my date is 04/11/17! I can not wait. It has always been hard or impossible for me to stay at a healthy weight! I can not wait to hear how you are doing.

TX2017Sleever: my date is also 4/11!!! I agree can lose.... so hard. It took me 6 weeks to lose 6lbs. I have to admit I'm nervous.

My BMI was 31ish when I was sleeved, after losing a bit in the preop diet. I've lost about 30 pounds since being sleeved on 9/21/16. Some days it feels painfully slow. I struggled a lot during the first month or 2 when I was watching people sleeved at the same time dropping lots of weight while I was feeling like I was standing still. I am struggling now again. I have only lost about 5 pounds since Christmas. But the trend is still down, so I'm trying to stay positive.
Things that help:
I've spent most of my adult life as a 14/16/18 and now I'm comfortable in 10/12 (really, edging toward 10s). That doesn't sound like much, but it FEELS great. I used to wear XL/XXL tops. Now I'm wearing mostly mediums. MEDIUM!!!
I have discovered I have huge hipbones. LOL
I used to drag myself up the stairs, now I bounce.
In general, things are just easier.
No regrets.

I am now size 18/20. Surgery not til August but wondering what I'll look like/what size I'll be.
Could it be that those with lower BMI to start lose more slowly? Just curious.
You can do this!

I think we do lose more slowly. My weight loss has really slowed down, but I'm still seeing changes in my body. My 12 jeans are falling off and my 8's are fitting me comfortably.

I have started to up my exercise, so that might be contributing to the changes I'm seeing (on my body) or not seeing (on the scale).

An update--my BMI was barely 31. I'm 2.5 months post surgery, down 32 pounds, more than halfway to my goal. I feel great--excellent energy. I'm exercising daily and eating very healthy. Lean Protein, a wide range of veggies, whole grains, a little fruit. I am sleeping better, feeling so much better, and rapidly dropping inches everywhere. Great decision for me. My surgery was single incision VSG with Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics.

Update:

I am one month out from my sleeve. I have lost only 11 pounds. The sleeve works and I have not overate. Craving are there but manageable with the options I have. I am a little saddened with most losing more.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
