Surgery is tomorrow morning sometime. I'm here in Juarez at Star Medica through BeLiteWeight. I'm happy with everything so far and believe me, I'm picky. I can't find anything to complain about. I am getting nervous even though I know tomorrow will be a new beginning. It's so scary thinking about the unknown and the feeling you are giving your life to someone else to handle.

So glad to hear you made it and are doing ok. A little tip- I started being forgetful about taking the Prilosec and I've been really hungry lately. I just read that it's actually stomach acid causing the hunger, so remember to take your Prilosec (omeprazole)!

Hope all is well!

Hope it went well! Thinking of you...

PS. I am pretty much exactly the same height and weight as you! It will be interesting to see how we progress. And I had my surgery April 24.

Hope you are recovering well. The first 3 days are the worst!

I made it! I'm feeling pretty good. Just a little bit of pain. Looking forward to feeling normal again. :-)

I had my Gastric Sleeve surgery this past Wednesday and got home yesterday afternoon. 3 days post op. in addition to the sleeve, they found a hiatal hernia which had to be repaired. I was up and walking 3 hours after my procedure. I am so sore from the gas and multiple bags of iv fluids, but so happy to be home. I have a drain tube which will be removed next Friday. I have done well on the initial liquid diet, but since starting the stage 2 diet, it feels like the food and the gas are in competition with each other for space, and I am taking small sips during drink time, and small bites during food time. Has anyone else experienced this? Eventually I am able to burp it out, but it is such a weird feeling! Is that normal? Hope everyone is well today :)

Yep the the gas and liquid fighting for space. I do not mean to be rude but when you start tooting again it is amazing. Cold liquids are hard for me than warm but that is common. I also had surgery on Wednesday and still fighting gas but it is getting better.

I had surgery on Monday and am on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks post op. But yes my gas feels like it's constantly battling against liquids and when I drink it makes a gurgling sound

Yes!!! I got sleeved on Wednesday and my stomach hasn't stopped gurgling since! Such a strange sensation, I swear it's loud enough for people around me to hear.

Hey guys! Just updating, officially one week post op today! Been doing okay with getting in my liquids, been able to get only get in 20oz although i am sickkkk and tired of Water and crystal light. Been only able to get in about 4 ounces of Premier Protein in per day. I am craving seltzer water SOOOO BAD! It was my favorite thing to drink before surgery I miss it so much, I even dreamt about it last night [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

I have been struggling to drink my Vitamins. I gag so bad when it's time to take them. I have my first pre op apt tomorrow and will be moving into puréed foods.

What sugar free drinks are you guys drinking? And what are some ideas for puréed foods?!

Hope everyone's coming along!
And good luck to everyone waiting for their big day.

Congrats!! I was sleeved on the 13th of April. I was just like you. There was some days I felt so weak from not being able to get enough calories in. But don't worry it will get better. I hated my vitamins as well but I am now finally able to stomach them. My dr told me at 2 week follow up that I wasn't suppose to start them until after my 2 week follow up. I see why now. Lol

If you're tired of water try some zero Vitamin water. My personal favorite is the orange flavor. I love it even more when it's cold. I'm able to drink cold stuff now. It doesn't bother me like it did 1 week ago.

Good luck at your follow up tomorrow. We didn't do purée. My dr goes straight to soft foods at 2 week follow up. My issue right now is making sure I moisten my food with dressing or sour cream to help it go down easier.

Happy for you!! Glad you're doing ok. It will get better. Much love!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
