Need help with insurance qualifications!

Recommended Posts

I have already met my six month minimum requirement for insurance. I also have all my other required appointments scheduled. My question is, I started my 6 month journey at 259 pounds (BMI of 49.1), the lowest I ever got in that 6 months was 251. I have always fluctuated between 255-257. I have never gone over the 259 that I started this journey at. I'm worried that insurance won't approve me if I can't lose more weight.

I have been on a very strict diet and going to the gym every other day meeting with a trainer. My body just won't lose the weight.

Will insurance still approve me even if I haven't lost a substantial amount of weight?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Atena is the only one that I know that is a stickler and won't approve if you even gain a pound from the first time you have documented your weight.

i maintained and bcbs had no issues with approving it. I think you will be fine as long as all of the doc's are in-line.

I didn't have a problem getting approved and at one point in time I gained.

It really depends on your insurance.

HI, It also is how and what your Surgeon puts down on your insureance papers. The good thing is the one in your Surgeon's office knows exactly what they want and need. They can word it just like it is wanted from your insureance. I would rely on them to document everything that they need to do.

i think if you can provide your insurance with your documented meets with your trainer, it should really help your case! My surgeon was extremely happy that I was able to provide documentation of my meetings and weight check ins over the 6 month period i saw my trainer- he said it was extremely helpful to send to my insurance. me and you are about the same BMI at the moment and my doctor told me I only need to lose 7lbs before surgery, so maybe your BMI alone will help your case! Hopefully this helps a bit but keep us posted!

If you are on a 6 month dr supervised diet prior to the surgery. They do that to see if you can lose that weight without surgery. Yes if you do that diet and you cant lose it ins will approve you. There is not a max weight limit to be approved, but there is a minimum.

Honestly i think it really depends on your insurance. My insurance required 4 months of consecutive weigh-ins , however for me i wasn't even required to really loss weight at all. Of course i did loss weight, but i could have gained 5lbs and they still would have approved me. Lol

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
