Another day down and I'm still here. I was terrible at getting Water in today, just hurt a lot. I did boost my Proteins so I'll pat myself on the back for that today and get much more focused tomorrow with Water. Interestingly I have been having to pee a lot - I'm chalking that up to losing all of the IV Fluid pumped into me at the hospital. My hands, wrists, and feet aren't swollen anymore (thank goodness).

I tried unsweetened apple sauce with some GENEPRO powder and it was terrible. Who says that stuff is flavorless? I went to the grocery store with my husband and the after taste was so bad I unwrapped a SF popsicle in Aisle 7 and munched away (took me 20 minutes to eat the thing but who is counting) In the midst of all the SuperBowl party foods that are out (I live in MA - go Pats), I got a lot of weird stares for eating the popsicle in the store like a little kid. I thought it was kinda funny.

I went for a mile walk holding my water bottle and trying to take a sip every few feet but that didn't work as well as I would have liked. The nausea has subsided considerably - yeah me!

January sleevers - keep the info coming!!

Hi Misty,

I had my RNY surgery on the 24th Jan as well. I am keen to share my new life trials and successes with you. Since pre op weigh in I have lost 26.5lb. How are you going?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I havent weighed myself. Im kinda afraid . The day of surgery, I was 238. The day I left, I was 251. I know thats due to all the fluids they pumped me full of. My swelling hasnt gone down a whole lot. Im SO looking forward to seeing a difference. I think that will really give me the motivation to kick everything in high gear.

Well you are still ahead of me! As of today I am 244lbs but only 5ft 4". I also weighed 10lb more when I left hospital. I guess it takes a few days for your body to adjust from all the extra fluids and drains. (Where does all the stuff that was coming out the drain go?) Glad that the hospital is behind me. Grateful to be home and not feeling any discomfort.

Just got home today. I had surgery on the 25th.. Very little pain but the nausea is really tough Every time I try to drink I feel like i'm gong to lose it again. I'll power through cause I have to. If the nausea is only for a few days, I can deal, but if it is longer it is going to cause a serious dehydration and nutrition problem.

Anybody just recently sleeved find they have an increased sense of smell? I do and it makes we want to puke. When the nurses gave medicine through the IV and used alcohol to wipe the tube I got very nauseated from the rubbing alcohol smell. Go figure!

Hi, I'm Suzanne. I had my surgery the 24th. When the new day nurse came in on the 25th, she smelled like garlic and onions...which I used to adore...but. yuck! It was horrid. Then at home my husband got into bed and was reeking of garlic, onions, toothpaste and God knows what else. And the dog....smelled like kibble. Ugh. This is a superpower side effect. Wondering how long it is going to last...

I haven't come close to getting my liquids, protien or Vitamins in but I'm hoping today will be the day! Swelling is going down, incisions are healing nicely and I can lay on my stomach now.

I am on full liquids but just added "real" food yesterday (only Water, and a couple bites of Jello wed and thurs) Yesterday I tried some herbal tea (fantastic!), watery cream of wheat (yummy), cream of chicken Soup spiked with Protein powder, and triple zero Greek yogurt. Only managed a few bites of each but they were all wonderful taste sensations!

I have not weighed myself yet.

Today's goals...liquids, Protein, walking. And measurements. I need to take measurements!

Good luck to all! Our journey has begun!

I have also had a problem with smells. They have been strong enough to make me sick to my stomach. The garlic and grease smells do it for me. Doesn't seem to be as bad lately, but my first few days home I thought I was losing my mind! I reminds me of when I had morning sickness with my babies.

Hope yours ends soon!

Good morning!

OK, so I did not meet my goals yesterday for liquids, Protein or Calcium. But I did better. Herbal tea for Breakfast, probably 12 oz of a 16 Oz Water bottle mixed with crystal light and 30 g. Protein powder and an entire container of vanilla triple zero yogurt. Took me an hour to finish it the yogurt, one teaspoon every 5 mins. Also took some stool softeners which, happily, are starting to work!

This morning I made a shake with vanilla Premier Protein, 1/2 frozen ripe banana, 2 T PB2 (Peanut Butter powder), ice and addition Protein powder. This should be a whopping 66 g of protein! And it's yummy. But my tummy still prefers warm to cold.

I find my body running cold. I have been wearing my favorite Beach dresses with a sweater and socks (homeless fashionista) and staying under blankets when I'm not up and doing stuff.

A frying vacationing in Barbados keeps sending me food pictures (yes she knows about the surgery.) DH keeps bringing more food into the house and parading it by me. Then he decides to become chef-boy-r-d and starts cooking all kinds of things. Then comes out and starts describing the meal he has just made for himself. I almost stared to cry. He looked at me and said "oh I guess you don't want to hear about it?" Arrgh.

He then made some homemade chicken broth which he offered up. I told him it had to be strained. Which he did. When I saw the container he had I asked if that was a layer of fat on top that needed to come off. He got insulted and snapped that it was just Soup. He poured me a bowl, very proud of himself. I felt sick as I looked at the glistening fat on the broth. I ate 2 spoonfuls. Then got rid of it as discretely as I could. Sigh.

Also braved the scale. The first read out was LO which I assumed meant Laughing Out Loud. Sigh.

Smells are getting easier to tolerate, but feelings may be getting more sensitive.

How is everyone else doing?

I had gastric bypass Jan 17 so far I'm doing pretty well getting in 64 oz of Fluid and 80-90 grams of Protein. I started walking 1 hour a day on my treadmill. I have a little pain still. And tire easy. Emotions run wild and sometimes I just wake up crying my eyes out but I am going through a divorce so that's that.

I had mine on Jan 23rd and boy oh boy am I struggling to get any kind of liquid down without this burning and painful sensation in my chest. Is this happening to you guys?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had mine on 1/11/17. Yes that feeling will go away. Just drink those liquids slowly. You need to heal. It's a challenge. And I'm sick of liquid. Just moved on to next stage. And it's good to be chewing again. But just can't get it all down. Key words are chew chew chew. And slow slow slow.

My sleeve was 01/23/17. My husbands BD was 1/26. He barbecued. It didn't bother me as much as I thought it would , (sorry to burst his bubble...not!). Thankfully I still don't have an appetite. I gotta make myself remember to drink the shakes and eat the broth which I hate with a passion.

Still grateful for the surgery though!

Wishing weeks away to get back to chewing real food... (in moderation).

My surgery is tomorrow and I'm getting really nervous. So I guess I will be weighing in, so to speak, in a few days. I am six days behind you. Eek!

My husband has been very supportive. We just bought a wood stove and it will be fully connected while I am in the hospital. So I can sit by a nice warm fire to ease my misery.

I made myself a bunch of trays of chicken broth, turkey broth and miso broth blended with unflavored Protein powder, and pureed the chicken from the Soup and put it up in ice cube trays in the freezer. I labelled it for the hubby. He doesn't cook so I don't have to worry about bizarre barbecuing behavior. You ladies have my empathy. I think he'll express himself by starting fires in the stove which is fine by me.

I would like to have some sleeve buddies too.

I found this at the store yesterday. I was thinking of putting a dab on top of my Jello. I think it may also come in handy later on when there are chocolate cravings.

Is it sugar free? I use Sugar Free Chocolate from trade Joe's,melt it then add Peanut Butter and a scoop of fat free cool whip. Yummy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
