Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

hi, I am so glad that i am back home!! had the worst time of my life. I was banded on 13th Aug, I was surprise as i did not feel much pain after the surgery, on Saturday when they took the drain it was very painful i couldn't walk at all,i had to be wheeled down to the x ray and was unable to walk due to the pain near my belly button it wasn't really my port ! I was then discharged by Dr Chris, went to the hotel by 2pm then Frederick came to see me around 7pm. from 11 pm i started vomiting but my stomach was empty it was so bad had to call a taxi and back to the hospital, i was readmitted they told me i had a bad reaction from the band. i couldn't sleep all night it was terrible i thought i was going to die. Dr Chris has already gone on holiday since Saturday but he did called to see how i was doing.

well i made it home thanks to my husband he looked after me just like i was a child.

i still have lots of pain on my port side, but i'm feeling better today.

Poor you laila, that sounds absolutely awful, must have been really scary. Rest up now you're back the pain really does get better every day.

I had my stitches out today, which does not hurt or anything. I'm still bruised at each cut, very yellow looking! The nurse was really good as she used to work with lap band patients. She said the healing really speeds up once the stitches are out.

Can't wait to get rid of the Water proof dressings in a couple of days, they're giving me a rash and are a bit itchy, probably cos I've replaced them 5 times now.

Thanks pinkshaz! I've hit a plateau now tho which is frustrating! I lost a stone of it on the pre-op diet, was banded on 6th Aug and have lost 11lbs since then. xx

I thought I would do a pre-check weigh in as I have my GP appointment this afternoon and also we are going on hols tomorrow for a week so will miss my weigh in on Friday!

I can't believe that since the 30th July - 17 August (18 days) I have lost 14.5 lbs (1 stone and 1/2 a lb). I know not a lot compared to some on here but I feel so chuffed that it's coming off!

So please don't lose heart if you aren't losing or are thinking about having a band --- it really does work. I have looked very closely at my food intake as well - keeping a food diary and I manage 4 distinct eating periods. Just about getting in 700 calories but the Herbalife shake twice a day is helping to boost that to nearly 1000 cals a day. Thank goodness at least I know I am getting all my Vitamins, minerals and Protein in it.

Thanks for reading and pleased to see others starting their weight loss journey.

So sorry to here lailla about your traumatic experience, do hope it has settled down and you are feeling much better.

Take care

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
