Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Recommended Posts

About that list what you can or cannot eat, I think it is vague for a reason, we can all eat different things at different levels of fill. My example is at 4.8ml I can eat every thing, meat, fresh bread. However at 6ml fill level, I cannot each bread or chips but any meat as long as its well chewed is fine. At 6.5 I can only tollerate chocolate, cake and soft foods. Although it seams strange I get a better weight loss at just under 6ml, because I'm not relying on slider foods (chocs, cakes).

The round dutch crispbreads are also available at ASDA by the crackers and biscuits.

Hope this clears things up a bit, but each person on here will have diferent results with different foods.

Hi All,

I had my band done by Dr Chris on 5 Feb and for the first time this morning weighed myself and have managed to put on 1 kg! I have only been having Milk, Tea, Soup and Yoghurt. I am so disheartened!

Did anyone else have this issue?

Hi JB

Have clicked on which one you are!!! :wink2: I was also banded the 5th by Dr C...went down after you!! I've lost 18lb since the band was fitted but have been exercising and have to admit that I started pureed food after a week cos I was so bored of soup and slimfast shakes! Have had a dabble with a bit of salmon too...don't seem to have much restriction so was gonna go for a fill this week, but have decided against it until next month!

Bought a cross trainer so been using that and generally feeling fab! Maybe you're not eating enough hun....maybe by having some pureed food it'll kick start your weight loss!!

Have you been steering clear of high fat milk, yoghurt etc?

How's it all been going in general? Are you still in the UK, or have you gone back to India?

Lotsa loves xxx

Hi Tracy

You got it right, not happy but then again I took a bad fall one week back and fractured 3 ribs so can't exercise at all. I am on semi skimmed milk and fat free yoghurt.

I can hardly move because of the ribs. Even breathing is a pain!! Literally!!!

I want a fill asap.... they will not do until 4 weeks past the operation.

I am really pleased to hear of your loss, its fantastic and keep going girl.

Hope all else is well.

love

Tracy my dear, just a few lines in your message gave me a little more conviction about what is possible with this new tool we are all lucky enough to either in my case about to adopt or as in numerous others already using. By this I mean the fact that you lost over a stone inside a short time frame and the fact that you went on to sort of solid food early too, and the even more amazing fact that your excerising so soon too. I am impressed so much that I feel even more ready to take the step today. I tried to swap my money for Euro's today but the rate is crap on weekends but a little moreso than of late. So I am hanging on in there until maybe someone suggests a really good company or outlet who can exchange it with a better rate. BUT needless to say BRING IT ON, I AM READY:w00t:. Take care and best of luck with your new venture x

I'm sure you'll be more than fine, time really dragged for me beforehand too. Your son will love it, my friend who came with me loves lager and he's missing Brussels like mad now (keeps on about his affair with Leffe!!)

Thanks Paul, I'm proud of my ticker so far, lol.

Best rate for money is Travelex online, but max they will deliver is the equivalent of £2,500.00. If you have a local Travelex outlet, you can order more for pick up. I did the max through Travelex, then the rest through Post Office online. Hope this helps. x

Thanks JOJO, believe it or not the local travel agents in town were offering a better rate than the one I saw just now on travelex !! Maybe I will keep an eye on theirs this week.

How has week 1 gone then honey? Paul

Painfully!! Lol. Not really that bad, I'm a bit of a softie. Getting there though. Had my first non-liquid food tonight, only a very small quantity and chewed it until it was definite mush. Still think it's a bit early in hindsight and might go back to the Soup tomorrow.

Good on ya if you've found a better exchange rate, I wish I'd shopped around a bit more.

JB...oh no hun....fancy falling!! Make sure you rest up until those ribs are healed. Maybe once you're up and walking around the weight will start coming off too!! Keep in touch and let me know how you go!! Sending lots of nursy hugs and good vibes to feel better!! xxx

Paul

Thank you, its the nurse in me that makes me not want to be a 'patient' and get on with things....I don't take kindly to being 'ill'!! I can manage 2 sessions of 10 mins on the cross trainer.....not major exercise! Don't get me wrong, the first few days are uncomfortable, especially round my port site and drain site, but I managed with paracetamol and found it easier to be on my feet pottering round than sat in a chair (my 2 yr old helped with that too!!)....and the bed??? that was the worst for me as I'm a side/tummy sleeper! I was sleeping on my side from night 2 using a pillow on the left hand side to support my tummy...used it until a few nights ago! Someone also suggested to me to buy one of those support belts for your stomach, you know like weight lifters wear, which holds things tight and helps if you're sore! I managed without but a friend of mine bought one and swore by it! Have you tried the post office for euros? When we come home to the UK we use it as we've always gotton a better exchange rate (I live in germany with my soldier hubby!) xx

Jojo, great weight loss babe!!) I was the same when I tried thicker food! Thought it was stuck lol! I'm now on mashed things and find it a lot better as I actually feel realy full, where as with the liquids was never totally 'full'! Hope the pain subsides soon hun xx

Well I'm back on the Soup again today. Felt too uncomfortable last night to carry on trying more solid stuff yet. And to be fair, I do get full off half a tin of soup, so I'm happy to carry on with it.

Still quite painful getting up / sitting down etc but not too bad the rest of the time. I feel a bit "stooped over" but I'm struggling to feel comfortable standing / walking straight, people keep asking me if I've hurt my back. I still have a feeling of tightness round my ribcage, particularly around the port / drain area. I think some exercise would help... I might try parking further away from work and taking a 15 minute walk in tomorrow, providing it's not icy.

Tracy, can I be nosey? As you are the same age as me, I was wondering if you have roughly the same to lose? It would be good to track my progress against someone else who has the same goal and is the same age. It would probably motivate me too.

Well done Jean! :wink2: Wow, mash and pasta already, I wouldn't dare yet!! lol. Jonnie says hi to both of you and it was lovely to meet you. x

I'm going to phone my doctors tomorrow to see about stitches etc. I've been a bit soft, I re-dressed the 3 other wounds but I haven't dared touch the two main ones, they still have their original dressings on!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
