Hi all does anyone know if Dr Chris has availability for August as my sister and partner want to get banded and cant go September due to work comitments. She really doesnt want to wait until October but will have to if no choice. I have read a few people going out next week but nothing after so just wondering if Chris and fred having another holiday or just no one on this forum being banded late August. Jx

Hi!

I have been reading the posts but one thing I am unsure of is, do you have to meet someone before getting a op date?

I am in N.Ireland and just wondered where I would have to go or what way does it work.

The first step is to e.mail CDB (DR Chris) or Fred, asking them for details, they will then ask you to fill out a questionaire you can return it to them for assesment to see if you are eligable and get a price your pre op consultancy is in Belgium the evening before the op, or you can arrange a pre op consultation closer to home, but you will have to pay a separate consultancy fee prior to arranging your op.

Thank you all so much for the welcomes. I have actually spent over a year lurking on these forums reading the posts.

I think my main motivation has been the fact NO ONE takes fat people seriously and I find that tough going in my business.

I am considering the lapband AP. Has anyone else got this band? It comes in tiny compartments and prevents creases forming that can split. It costs an extra 500 euro however and Dr. Chris says he hasn't seen that it helps with weightloss over time. Just reading Garry's experience though makes me think about it more seriously....

Any thoughts?

Hi and welcome Galatea. Have never heard of this type of band, which manufacturer is it? Certainly sounds worth considering if it can cut out some of the risk of leakage etc and maybe worth the extra payment? You'll have to let us all know any further info, it may be helpful for any pre bandsters on here, Bigsister x

Hi homecare,

As far as I understand, there is a big conference in South of France for all the Bariatric Surgeons. they are all coming over from USA too. When I booked my surgery, the lastest dates he had in August was 11th and 12th, then Tues & Fridays in Sept. I'm actually booked for 12th August, but I booked that back in June!!!

Maybe suggest if there is a cancellation available to your sister and partner....

Hi Everyone, how's it goin ?

I have had my worse day since being banded unable to keep any food down first thing had boiled egg and toast after first bite knew I had prob'. Lunchtime tried yoghurt nothing goig down definitely feels like something is blocking food. This has been ongoing from Thur' I was able to go out last night managed my meal fine was surprised this is back - but today is not good really concerned as I had severe oesphagitis Dec/ Jan and this feels very similar unable to swallow food.

Homecare I booked my op 2 weeks before I went phoned Frederik with dates I was off he said it was booked, Bridget (another provider) phoned me to say she had a canc' on the 7th July so I phoned Fred' never let on and asked could I confirm cancellation for 7th he explained who Bridget was BUT said he would speak to Chris and see what he could do.He emailed the next day to say it would be fine.

Emma81 - I also went from N Ireland I just booked package with Frederik, I did discuss concerns with my GP. You could go and see Fred' in Dublin they go once a month to do fills, but really I didn't feel this was necessary as you can email them re. any issues, concerns or phone them. They got back to me within 12 - 24hrs.

:) Fingers crossed for Michelle and Wendy's meeting with Fred/Chris this week 1 of the issues is for more fill dates in Belfast I think it's the 3rd they're meeting in Belgium.

I think this conference is at Port Vendres which is about 5 miles to where I'm at in the South of France, I'll be there around that time, so I might pop along and see if I can get a free fill, all in the name of science of course,

Yes I emailed fred and he confirmed that there is defo no dates left in August. He also says dates are starting to fill up for october.

I have been ok recently eating but last night tried to eat a breaded chicken breast had the horibble tightness and then was sick. I think it might be really trying to concentrate on chewing and eating really really slowly. Jx

Hi All just a thought, do you think it would be financially viable for Dr Chris to let Wendy have a contract for his fills? I know some of us have taken 6 months packages with WLS and others prefer to go and have fills done with Chris and Fred. If he did let WLS have contract do you think their prices would go up. Jx

i think its a good idea but he would need to have an agreement as after my problem i would not be happy letting anyone outside ecfs do a fill because i would be left without a leg to stand on if my fill was by wls.

Definately understand Gary but thats my point why would he let wendy muscle in on his parade. Maybe Im missing something but cant see whats in it for him. As just now he charges per fill and a lot of people will keep to ecfs for the exact reason you have given a guarantee. The reason Im so interested is Wendy is speaking to him soon I understand and as my package doesnt start till 11th August and they come to some agreement Im wondering if I will come under the guarantee, if that makes sense? The meeting could be about CDB doing the surgery on WLS introduced clients and then WLS keeping the contract to do the fills on their clients only. Only a suggestion, and it would them benefit both parties.

Hello

I'M STARVIN !! still can't swallow any food at all. Havin trouble keepin Fluid down can only manage tiny sips. Phoned out of hours Dr he said it sounds like oesphagitis is back and I need barium swallow done I've just gone on my Doc's website and got emergency app for the morning. Oh the joys !

ps.I don't feel this is directly linked to band it's because I stopped meds because they were tablets and couldn't be broken or crushed due to time release. I hope this prevents others making the same mistake if on meds long term.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
