I've only found articles in Australia for this. http://www.bariatric-solutions.com/minimizer-gastric-ring.htm

Still have no idea what it does...

Two people I know here in Australia have the minimiser ring with their sleeves. They said that it slows their eating and creates further restriction. The guy no longer tolerates red meat well and the girl can't handle pork/chicken unless slow cooked.

My surgeon didn't recommend it for me, being a band to sleeve convert.

I can't tell how much a restriction should be with or without it. I have no one to compare to with one lol

My surgeon has had a sleeve and has he minimiser ring as well. I didn't think to ask him about it.

I can eat chicken breast and pork shredded and beef mince ok. I have had mango stuck cause I don't think I chewed it well enough.

I'm still trying to work out how it stops your sleeve from " stretching" over time. If there is such a thing.

I guess I'm more restricted then others

Thank u for replying back

I talked to my surgeon about this option and he said in the U.S. most insurances don't cover it. He also didn't recommend it, as it adds more unnecessary risk for complication by inserting a foreign object, also it can wear out, slip, be too tight, etc. So he feels it is not worth it.

My surgeon agrees, he does not support this or any form of banding, for the same reasons--they usually end up having to come out.

Cause it's only been done for 5 years over here ( pretty sure only here for 5 ) I haven't heard much about it.

I know of two people that have had it done with so far no issues.

But long term no one knows I guess.

As I said my surgeon has it as well so I gather that's why he offers it

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
