Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?

Recommended Posts

I felt slightly nauseated for the first few days post-op but never threw up. I've stuck religiously to the diet, instead of trying to eat until full. So I've felt rather good overall.. slightly tired. But not like I need to vomit.

I'm just about 3 months out and have found that I have thrown up more than I'd like.

After surgery I was vomiting a lot. Now I've also found if I've eaten too much or too fast I'll vomit. So I'm learning to slow down etc.

But I also find that just about any type of meat makes me vomit no matter how well I chew or how slowly I eat.

I think my sleeve just hates me sometimes but my surgeon doesn't seem concerned. I e spoken with him a few times about it and all the nausea I have each day. So not sure what else to do as he offers no meds to help with nausea. Just tells me to tough it out and it'll get better.

Hi

I was like you and though it would never end. I didn't over eat but maybe ate a bit fast. Drs didn't seem bothered at all. Now 6 months out and it has finally settled down about 1 month ago. If I forget and eat to fast I do still feel ill but seem to be able to keep it down. Hope it starts to settle for you soon. Xx

8 weeks out, no nausea or vomiting, nothing seems to bother my stomach. Sometimes I wonder if I had a sleeve done at all but since I get full fast it is a reminder that I did have it done

I'm only two months out but I have thrown up two times. Both were due to an Iron supplement and I just vomited it back up.

I'm six weeks out and have not vomited even once, not even when I ate things I really shouldn't have. Which is good because I have emetophobia and get a panic attack every time I puke lmao.

It's luck of the draw, from what I understand.

Oh great. I have the lapband and what everyone's describing sounds just like how getting stuck feels and sliming with my band I hate. Are any of you band to sleeve conversions? Is it the same?

I had a lap band and have no problems with vomiting or getting food stuck... but then again I am still on liquid... I can bend and move better into certain positions and don't feel like it gets stuck any more when I move.. like I use to .. Sometimes I would feel the band get twisted or prevent me from bending

I vomit a lot. Not fun at all. I get a lot of foamies too. My stomach is very sensitive to food and anything can set it off. Doesn't always have to do with eating fast for me. Literally can't eat eggs, cherries or the flavor and the list goes on

I am 13 weeks out and have never been nauseous or vomited, nor do I have reflux or heartburn. We are all different and I count myself lucky. I can Eat ust about anything. Good luck

Everytime I eat I get a stomach ache. There have been times where I came close to vomiting. My surgeons office told me it's because I am eating too much. That 4 bites is all I should be taking at each meal. Not happy [emoji53]

I'm 3 months post-sleeve and haven't vomited even once. I get gurgling when I eat too much but no vomiting.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
