Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?

Recommended Posts

I vomited my first night home. That's it. I'm never nauseated. I'm five weeks out and besides fatigue (which is slowly improving) and eating small amounts I wouldn't even know I had surgery.
I feel for those who are feeling sick. That sounds so miserable. I hope it passes for you all.

No, I have only thrown up once...when I was 2 days post op and tried to eat a giant chewable Vitamin. I'd call my dr to discuss this asap.

I have only vomited once and that was after eating too quickly. I am almost four months post-op and haven't found anything that disagrees with my stomach.

I'm a little over a month out and have experienced vomiting pretty constant since my sleeve on December 7th 2016. I to have wondered about this. Sometimes it's I realized I hadn't took my stomach pill at that time and others it didn't matter if I had or not. I feel if it's like trial and error as if learning what to and what not to eat and how much as well as how fast to eat.

What stomach pill are you talking about? I didn't get a stomach pill just wondering thanks.

Hope this isn't like when i had my lap band I would get stuck with everything except the bad food. This time i have vowed to eat slower and chew more.

I threw up tonight after dinner. I tried some turkey meatballs, and I didn't remember to follow the advice to "lubricate" them (mayo, margarine, gravy, etc). I also may have had one or two too many.

It's really amazing how unforgiving my sleeve is, but I'm learning to listen to her. Sometimes I get the message a bit too late.

The hardest part for me is separating my liquids and my food. When I start to feel sick my first impulse is still to take a great big swig of Water like I used to in the old days. That's a big no-no.

I'm learning, slowly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
