Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?

Recommended Posts

I vomit here and there. I experience nausea a lot too. I ate egg salad too fast once and had to throw up bc it got stuck- that was gross! I am a coffee drinker and I probably shouldn't be, I'm relating a lot of my nausea to an hour after coffee.....I'm thinking it's causing gastritis. I just love it though. Damn.

If I'm not paying attention to what my body is saying and eat too much or too fast I WILL feel a huge pressure and a stuck feeling and the food ends up coming out.

Make sure to eat slowly and listen to your body..

No, in my opinion throwing up is not something you should expect....In fact if you find yourself throwing up that's your body telling you you're doing something wrong....either eating too fast, too much, or the wrong thing....

I had surgery on May 16, 2016 and vomited once early on because I ate a little too fast and ended up eating one bite too much when I moved to solid food.....early on it was hard for me to know I was full....I learned that by eating slower it gave my stomach and brain long enough to communicate with each other. Now, throwing up is certainly not apart of my post surgery life!

I also can tolerate any food....I haven't found anything that disagrees with me.....which in some respects is sad...haha I was sort of hoping I wouldn't like sweets and breads anymore...haha But I've met my goal weight and so far maintaining is going great.....Without a doubt it will be something I'll have to stay on top of for the rest of my life, but this surgery has given me a tool that will help me through!

Good luck to you!!

Oh great. I have the lapband and what everyone's describing sounds just like how getting stuck feels and sliming with my band I hate. Are any of you band to sleeve conversions? Is it the same?

6 weeks out. No puking, but I really pay attention to my sleeve when I'm eating and stop when it says "stop!"

I've thrown up a number of times. What I've learned is to eat very slowly and chew very thoroughly. I make a sensible plate that fits within the nut's guidelines and sit down with it. I first eat a tiny amount that is chewed very well. I then wait until my stomach relaxes and slowly eat the rest. This helps me get in the Protein and calories.

FWIW I've only thrown up once, and I had a stomach bug.

Day 12 and no vomit or nausea ....TIL today. Suddenly my Bariatric Advantage Vitamins made me gag. I have been taking them for a week or so, they were the best tasting thing on earth (since I hadn't had food) when I started taking them. Today, UGH!!!! I had that watery feeling out of my mouth. Don't even feel like having Protein shake now because still feeling quesy. I just ate 1/2 portion of the Health Wise Protein Jello. Who knew you can hate things later on. I know not that long, but I hope I don't feel like this having to take those tomorrow. I don't even want to think about having to take them.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
