I got my date. It's January 17th. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm dreading it, feeling anxious, can I do this? I have to do this!

Mine is on January 17 also! We will get through this!!! Fortunately, I only have to do 1 week of the pre-op diet.

I was sleeved on 12/28. I won't sugar coat this because I went through it . I wish I would have known what to expect . It's very very very hard. I can't tell you how hard . But you have to do it , think of the big picture. Yes I did cheat during my two week pre op, but that's the chance I took , not k owing if they were gonna cancel my surgery cause my liver was still too big. Don't do it , it isn't worth it .I'm down 13 lbs in 5 days !!! Hope this helps good luck !!!!

Maydawn1972 is right!

It's something you won't fully get until you finally go through with it. Some changes I noticed that were automatic -- getting used to sleeping on my back (if you're a tummy sleeper, this will change while you recover if you don't want to be in pain from your incisions - I built a pillow barrier around my arms and extra pillows under my head which helped), and needing to take sips and not chugging something like I used to pre-op. No more beer bongs lol

Still no regrets! It's tough, takes balls, and gets kind of lame when my options are limited just 4 days out to broth, Protein shakes, and Jello. Still have to try out Crystal Light to spice things up a bit. Things will get better though!

Buy Jello in ALL the colors for variety. Sodium free broth is better than the regular kind that's loaded -- add a dash of your own salt if you want and I've added lime for extra flavor - no issues with the citrus factor. Good luck!

Well.. I'm 2 days in and I haven't cheated. I did accidentally lick my finger while making my son's PBJ this morning.

So far I'm hanging in there. I have not had much energy and I get really hungry to and have to "eat" a doctor given shake or something about every 2 hours.

I've been running to the bathroom more than ever but I guess that's to be expected.

My biggest hurdle is that I feel like I'll never be able to eat real food again. I'm grieving the loss of my "drug of choice" food. Will I ever be able to have a small cup of coffee again or a small piece of chicken?

Anyone who says weight loss surgery is the easy way out has obviously never done it...lol I am 3 weeks out and it was hard not to cheat and to stay on the plan they laid out for me but I think it will be totally worth it in the end. Tomorrow I get to start the "soft food"stage and I am so excited!!

You can do it, you just have to set your mind and right now it seems like forever before you will be able to have real food again but just look forward to that time!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
