Wishing you the best! Merry Christmas!

Thank you all! You are so wonderful. My boys are gone for the evening and I was packing stuff so I can rest as much as possible tomorrow and I got all emotional and choked up. I signed on here and here you were with all this positive energy supporting me. Thank you so much.

I'm a single mom with 2 college age sons, so most of my life has been for them and now it's my turn and I'm not used to it. I am so glad my sister is going with me (she was banded last summer).

We will head out of Eugene at 3 am Monday to make our flight out of Portland. Labs and testing Monday and surgery on Tuesday. We will fly home Thursday afternoon.

I will let you know as soon as I can when I get back. Thank you again and God bless you!

Darcey, I have 2 sons (20 1/2 and 24 yr. old). I've been fortunate to be a full-time Mom. It is really strange to do something for you. But your sons are going to benefit from this just as much, if not more! You will feel like doing more active things with them. You are extending your life and making it a better life. You'll feel so much better, getting off of meds (and their side effects), less aches and pains in your joints, more energy, sleep better at night. That's not counting the mental part - feeling more confident, happier and more social, caring about your appearance, enjoying clothes shopping now, finding the variety of colors (other than the standard black) and styles. I love long bicycle rides (10-20 miles) and 4-5 hour mountain hikes now. That was never even a dream in the past! I can't wait to hear about your post-band journey!

It's amazing how so many of us are caretakers and we always put ourselves at the end of the line. Good luck on your new journey. I wish you and all the newbies the best, it's a piece of cake. (I can say that now, I started mushies today, ummmmm).

No I didn't have cake, lol.

Darcey,

I know your already on your way and won't get this till your back but I wanted to wish you Godspeed in your recovery and pray that the surgeons hands will be guided by the Almighty.

Like Vera I also lost a family member on Dec 21st 32yrs ago. She was not only my best friend but my grandmother too. I like Vera talk to her all the time and I have asked that every year that the 21 be a special day and so far she has granted me that. So this year I'm asking her to watch over you during your surgery. So you'll be fine. grandma was not one to mess with.

Well....it's 1:45 am here on the Pacific Coast. We leave for Portland in a little over an hour. I'm okay. I'm at peace with the good Lord about this.

Thank you all for your support and prayers. Talk to you in a few days!

Love, Darcey

Darcey, everything will be fine and you'll be back in your own comfortable bed before you know it. That is wonderful your sister is banded. You can be a great support system to each other. 2005, here you come!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
