Had mind on the 12th feel great no pain. Only down thing is I feel like I've lost nothing. Is that even possible on a liquid diet??? I got for first post op tomorrow so I guess I'll know soon enough.

I have not been using my CPap machine prior to surgery just had my pre op meeting with my surgeon and his team. They did not bring it up and I am scheduled for the surgery on 12/27. Will this push back my surgery if they ask to see my chip in the CPap?

I had a drain but it came out before I left the hospital. I also had a catheter. Didn't notice them much at all. They came out with a little pull from the nurse. No trouble at all. I had anxiety about both and neither bothered me.

I had not been using my cpap machine either. I did tell my dr that I had not been using it and they said they hear that all the time but that I still needed to bring it with me for use post op. Although the morning of my surgery I forgot it at home in the rush to get everything together and get to the hospital. Since the hospital was an hour and a half from my home I didn't go back and get it because I didn't want to be late for check in. I was so worried that my surgery would be postponed but it was not a problem and they told me not to worry about it. I was so relieved. So you should not have any problems with it.

If you already got sleeved this month please tell me how your doing

Hello, I got the sleeve surgery on the first, and I am still alive. I was scared going in and now I am doing okay. I tend to eat rarely in huge amounts,so this is a big change. My first days at home I learned about my new body. There were times during the first 7 days that I was dehydrated and faint. My program is very restrictive. I found it impossible to follow. So I used Utube and sort of fell in love with Matthew Weiner MD. He is nice, reasonable and seems to have the best plan to transition to a plant based diet. I was working on this diet preoperatively to reverse my diabetes which was reversed prior to surgery. I missed my postoperative class and at my doctor visit all he said is take the class. I cannot because I need to see my spine surgeon who has done two surgeries on me this year and I need to see him. Both things are at the same time so I asked what was in the class he told me it was all in the binder. Their diet has no carbs,no sweetener,no nuts etc. I have to admit that their program to me is ridiculous. I am losing weight but to me,it is just as important to start a new life with plant based food and a lot more activity. Starvation does not help people lose weight. Artificial shakes are not food.

So I felt this way preoperatively and said nothing because of the rigidity. I was sure that if I had a problem with the program I would not have surgery ,so I shut it. One time I was talking to another participant in the preoperative class and I mentioned that I put one Stevia packet in my 64 ounce Water bottle that contained 30 grams of Protein and the nutritionist walking by yelled from across the room that Stevia is not allowed. The abbreviation used on this site as a nickname for nutritionist seems to be a better description of her role.

In any case don't tell on me,I am just venting.

Ok so,I feel like a traitor, but animal Protein is associated with cancer and heart disease,I plan to quit it. I feel like my program is virtually impossible to follow and a set up for patients. Matthew Weiner is yummy and I love his videos, so now I feel like my doctor has changed a bit. His explanation of what it feels like to be in danger of rupturing my sleeve made me realize that I was doing this at every meal. I wish my program accepted feedback and was more flexible. I wish they were approachable, but they are not. The Irony is that my program is a charade that I play a part in out of necessity but it is not helping me at all.

Thanks for listening.

PS: When I was preop I would ask about weather a food was okay and every time it was shot down. I came up with a delicious shake and asked if it was okay. I was told that the one ounce of milk in the recipe was too much sugar. Internally I was rolling on the floor laughing. I was adrift but now I have my Utube doctor.

Mine was done 12/7. Down 20 pounds. Like what??? I am healing. I have a desk job so I went back to half days. That has been stressful. I went and got weight loss surgery for dummies from the library. It has been helpful. I don't get the same full feeling I got before. Weird. Tired but not overly. Checking to make sure my Vitamins are up to par. Any total liquid vitamins that fit the bill?

Me too! Surgery on 12/7 and as of today I'm down 22 lbs. This is unbelievable to me, and I already feel better than I have in 3 years, which was right before I found out I had cancer. This is life-changing, for sure!

Have you started purees yet? I started today. Slow going. The 30/30 is hard to follow when I feel like I need to wash something down.

Update: I'm feeling a lot better since surgery tomorrow is my first follow up appointment I think I lost about 15lbs since surgery date 8 days ago but my cravings for food is so hard. I hate the fact that it's so cold outside. I need to start walking more.

Glad to hear you are doing better@ sunsetsue... on the other hand, I ate 1 scrambled egg for first time last night. OMG IT TASTED LIKE A STEAK. However, my sleeve went into a violent uproar and up it came. I was like noooo. So back to Greek yogurt I go. I hope this will pass because I like eggs but my new baby stomach has said no

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
