Lol, I should do just that. I'm excited about this journey ahead. Can't wait to start healing. Gas pain is awful but it's getting better.

Wonderful news...Thank you for sharing your update. It really helps those of us who are trying to get where you are. Do some "Internet" window shopping while your healing....Pick out a bad dress at Neiman Marcus..and imagine yourself in it in a few months...when you reach that goal!..Buy it????Congratulations!

Hi everyone... I'm still alive, lol. I had my sleeve done yesterday. It was a rough day 1 with the gas pain and nausea. However , today I feell a lot better.... still have some gas pain but I'm burping a lot now. . I am telling myself this is temporary and in 6 months I'm sure I will say this was a great decision.

Glad your surgery went well.

I know a lot of people personally that have had bariatric surgery and most of their spouses/significant others have been UNSUPPORTIVE, and that's just so sad!

Speaking with them it all boiled down to the same thing: INSECURITY.

'Oh he/she's going to get all skinny and then find someone else and leave me'.

You're exactly right, does he really want an overweight, unhealthy wife, who let's face it, is basically a ticking time bomb to have a heart attack, stroke, or diabetic coma?

Or does he want you happy and HEALTHY and in his life for 10-20-30 more years with him?

I'll tell you what - if I would ever 'get skinny and leave my fiancé' .... well that just shows what a POS I AM!

I agree. I would never leave him because of male attention because I been with him big n small to big again so that's just his insecurities. My son went with me and he was very supportive and he stayed by my side the whole time . So I'm happy for that .

Unfortunately you don't have your husband's support and you know this. It happens often when the spouse is not secure in themselves. I would love to tell you everything will be fine but we believe for the best and pray for the strength to get through the worst. This is your life and whether we are single or in a relationship we are the only ones who can live it. Surround yourself with a good support group, people who will cheer you on and be there to hold you up during tough moments. Stop focusing on others negative opinions and focus on self.

It's not just with surgery and being thin, it's about you becoming the best healthiest you that you can be. I have seen people who start new ventures to have a better life face oppositions from their spouses...it can be something simple like they started going to church more, got a new job. etc.

The issue is not with you losing weight the issue is within himself and that is NOT your issue. You can't make someone be what you want them to be you can only work on self.

Best of luck in the process...either way it goes in the end you will be alright.

Thank you @ Chel1. I have been sleeved now and he doesn't say much about it. But that's okay because I get a lot of support from this online forum from great people like yourself. So, as you said , I will def be okay either way. I serve a God who has never left me and I don't see him leaving me now. Take care and thanks again.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
