Is this a bad food choice?

Recommended Posts

Later on when I can advance to regular foods would it be a horribly bad food choice to add a little bit of scrambled sausage into my scrambled egg?

I am not fond of eggs but can tolerate them if there is a lil sausage in them. However I don't want to eat anything that I shouldn't eat. I am only 18 days post-op and I intend to follow my program.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I am still on pureed foods and will be for another 10 days before I move onto small solids. All the advice I have have been given is listen to your body and be guided by what it tells you, I tried pureed foods too early and that caused me to vomit, so I went back to liquid's for a couple of days before trying again. Gently gently don't try to rush things, good luck.

One of the main things you'll notice is that your taste buds not only change after your operation, for some reason they will keep changing for the first few months.

At first I had to have everything super salty, one month in I needed to cut out salt from everything to tolerate it. So you may end up being surprised that you can't tolerate sausages, and ur fine with eggs :D

When I graduated to mechanically soft foods I was out of town for work. The convention I was at served Breakfast burritos for breakfast. I popped it open and had a couple tiny bites of the eggs. There was a little bit of sausage that I didn't notice in there. Body didn't like it, came right back up. Took a month or so more before I could stomach it. I have some every once in a while but it's the turkey sausage.

Hey Debi! You'll probably get some varied responses on that, because different people follow different dietary regimes, i.e. no-fat/low-fat/full fat (for those on ketogenic diets), meat/vegetarian, and on and on. Personally, I'm all about getting in that Protein any way possible, so adding a little extra Protein to your eggs...all good as far as I'm concerned. As long as you still watch how much, and don't advance too quickly, should be fine. And if your body decides, nope, that's not happening, just listen to it.

Turkey sausage is leaner, but be careful because it also tends to be more dry...and I found dry meat will not go down for me, so I did/do 1 regular sausage link...not every day, but when I feel I need to get some more dense calories in to let my body know I'm not starving it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
