Hi my name is Wanda. I have struggled with my weight for 30 years. In January 2016 I had gastric bypass surgery. I weighed 231 and I am 5 5. I now weigh 138. Met my goal of 140 in 9.5 months. I feel so much better about myself. I wore a size 22 in elastic waist jeans, I now wear a size 8 skinny jeans and they ZIP. post-303272-14800443598241_thumb.jpg post-303272-14800444800131_thumb.jpg post-303272-14800445520323_thumb.jpg

Hi Wanda

I'm Sherrie and I had struggled with my weight for almost my whole adult life!! On July 2, 2013 I had my RNY. I lost down below my goal in 6 months. Here are my stats: HW 249 (this time I was 285#'s but managed to lose to 249) SW 232 LW 117 CW 125#s. I am 5.4. I also can wear a size 8 skinny jeans and I can zip em too. COOL BEANS!!! This WLS was one of the very best things I have ever done for myself. I feel so much better. I was on 12 different medications. I was on Insulin 2 times a day plus Oral medication for my Diabetes. I am now off all of that. I am now on 4 meds, 3 of them are for my blood pressure and now I take less than 1/2 of them. Plus my Vitamins. Life is great!! I am able to walk 4 miles at a time and go 4 to 5 days a week. Pretty good for a 60yo woman. You have done awesome on your journey also. Keep in touch, this is a great place to come and get information and just have like minded people to talk too.

Such a inspiration the both of you. Im 8wks post op. I cant wait to get back down to my regular weight. I didnt struggle with my weight ever until 3yrs ago. I broke my back, arthritis set in amd everything they gave me had steriods in it. Blew me up so bad you wouldve thought i went on a yr eating binge. I was so depressed because i went from being this flight attendant for 18yrs weigjing 145lbs since my 20's to weighting almost 300lbs in my early 50's. I found out that i have MS, and lost my husband to someone that looks like she weigh 5lbs. But i said good luck with that mess. That was 250lbs i lost easily and gladly....lol. since surgery in down a total of 70lbs and went from a 3x to xl. Im just having alot of problems keeping things down still. Been back to er 2x for fluids. But getting better. I look to you guys for encouragement. My family is very supportive but i need to talk to ppl that know what im going through. Thanks again for sharing your story

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
