Complications. Advice please!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery monday and have been in the hospital since. Should get oit today. Surgery turmed out to be a lot longer and a a little more complicated. He had to remove a hernia and also remove scar tissue that was attached. Anyways i got done and was doing what they said. Drinking Water and getting up and walking around. But the wanted and an ekg because my heart rate waa between 160 and 175. Which is not good. Plus i had a fever and another scan showed i had Fluid in my lungs. And bloodwork showed stiff off w my blood count. So they moved me up a floor to have me be watched at all times. I was jist wondering of anyone has gone through any of this amd if so how long did it take for your body to start healing and not hurting SO bad... Any advice would be great because this has been extremely rough on me :/

I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I'm sorry I don't have any personal experience to offer you but still wanted to wish you well. Sounds like they are taking good care of you. Just make sure to follow their instructions and I'm sure they'll have you back to normal soon.

It is at least comforting that you are being monitored in the hospital and they are aware of the situation. They have drugs that can regulate all of that.

I have no advice just prayers. Thank God this happened IN the hospital and monitored and not at home. God bless you, the doctors and nurses.

My friend had post op Fluid on her lungs and she said it was painful but she made a full recovery and is doing well now except for losing her hair.

It did take some time though for her to recover but she was healed enough at three months to go abroad on holiday.

Keeping you in prayers. I also had a hernia repaired, but no complications. Please hang in there & keep us posted on your recovery.

Thank you! Did having the hernia cause recovery and pain to be a little more intense?? And thanks for responding. This app is pretty cool for questions and advice :)

I had a hard time with post op complications too, quite severe ones. Both my friend and I were in the hospital for weeks.

But she is now back to herself except for the hair loss. She isn't losing weight anymore now after her initial 50lb drop. She gets quite hungry and says that she can eat anything and everything.

I am taking much longer to recover because I developed so many complications post op. I lost all of my excess weight and am now only losing 3lbs a week. I too have lost most of my hair and I get hungry too but I can't eat much yet.

My friend is just under six months post op and I am just over so you will definitely get well and heal if you look after yourself and follow your plan.

Don't lose heart, talk to your team. Stay hydrated because dehydration can cause big problems. Be drinking Water all the time.

Thank you for taking the time to write me. Im sorry to hear about yours and your friends complications. It definitely makes things more difficult. And im doing really well with Water. I marked up thw bottle to help w not forgetting times too. So i am hoping i will heal up and be feeling pretty good soon. Cuz right now it is just a lot of pain. I just keep telling myself it is so worth it. And there's a lot of ppl out there who aren't able to habe this surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
