Hi everyone, I'm 24 days post op had the sleeve done. I've seen my doctor and nutritionist twice already and was sent for i.v fluids and nausea medication. These last few weeks have not been easy but I get it this is a complete life change but the reason why im so frustrated is because I've now become sensitive to lactose and can not tolerate any milk products and even worse my allergy to soy is more sensitive than ever... what im really hoping for is help or advice on food ideas. To be completely honest im just sick of only Greek yogurt, Crystal light, broths but thankfully I can now handle a very soft chicken and green Beans. I can only still have tiny amonts of anything period couple sips of Protein or Water at a time and 2 or 3 bites of soft foods. My nutritionist also told me to stay away from Pasta, crackers, potatoes and rice. If anyone can tell me what their eating or ideas of things I can try soy and milk free please and thanks. So far, what you have been trying to eat seems good enough. 24 days post-op seems a bit too soon for you to try and eat solid things. But if you're able to handle it, then I don't see why it would hurt. Have you ever tried Lactaid? It's lactose free and tastes just like milk. :)

I was sleeved in September 2016. Somethings I still can't handle with now.. let your n.p. and dietician lead us into the different phase. Your still a new post. Stomach has to heal... I still have issues 90 days later...

So far, what you have been trying to eat seems good enough. 24 days post-op seems a bit too soon for you to try and eat solid things. But if you're able to handle it, then I don't see why it would hurt. Have you ever tried Lactaid? It's lactose free and tastes just like milk. :)

I can't do solids 100% I usually steam everything till its supper soft but I have tried lactose milk unfortunately I learned the hard way it does still contain lactose unreal lol my nutritionist said it does indeed still contain lactose just a very small amount so If I do drink "milk" it's almond milk it's hard to get used to after loving regular 1% milk most my life.

Thanks for you suggestions, I'm definitely staying away from starch all potatoes, rice, pastas and even crackers my nutritionist has made it clear I need to stay away for many reason I'm almost scared to even try it lol she says why wast the space on pointless foods. I did have mash cauliflower and a Lil chicken stew only with carrots for dinner I was so amazed on how good it was and felt as I trick my body and mind into thinking it was mashed potatoes :)

Btw on the tuna I just found a soy free one not in a can the ones that come in a bag I was told to use hummus instead of mayo since mayo contains soy I just don't know if hummus and tuna will sit well in my stomach. It's just so hard to find soy free products and food

For tuna salad mush - instead of using mayo, you could try adding a bit of ripe avocado to moisten it.

Refried Beans. I can't tell you how wonderful they were as I made the transition from liquids! And you can mix your unflavored Protein powder into them :)

Lactose intolerance is the worst. I got hit with it, too.

Do you handle eggs well? Eggs were something I started early. They helped me tremendously.

I mixed other fishes in so I didn't get bored. Herring, salmon, tilapia etc make nice salads or are nice and soft and keep you from getting bored. I mashed chickpeas with spices so it wasn't boringly pasty like hummus. More texture. I made salads out of them, too, with lemon and spices.

Yes to Beans, of all varieties. I love black beans.

This won't last long. And if it helps, my lactose intolerance faded. Now the only things I can't tolerate are milk and ice cream.

I am 2 weeks post op, what has helped me was literally typing into google "Bariatric Soup recipes" you will find all kinds of yummy stuff. You are bound to find something your tummy will tolerate. You are doing great! Keep up the good work!

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.
