Hitting a plateau

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks out from my gastric sleeve and I have lost 26 pounds. For the last week and a half I haven't lost any weight. I have been increasing my work outs with no prevail. It's still hard for me to get all 60 oz of Water in a day but I've been eating my Protein and drinking Protein shakes to at least get that in. I don't know what else I should be doing /:

Just hang in there! It's really really hard to do screw this up, especially so early out. A couple of things to remember:

1. None of us loses weight every single week during the weight loss phase. You'll have some weeks where you remain steady.

2. During this time pay CLOSE attention to your inch loss. Try on something you used to not be able to wear... I bet you can, or I bet you're closer than you used to be. Because we don't lose inches and scale weight at the same time, your body has it's own system. Drop a lot lbs... then your inches catch up... then drop some lbs... then inches catch up. I used to make a game of it. I'd go buy something I knew I could not squeeze my butt into and every Friday, try that thing on until it fit. And when it did, do that again. It made Fridays fun.

3. Get used to these pauses. I call them a pause cause that's all it is. At 6 weeks out you're nowhere near a plateau. Just keep following the rules, stay hydrated and Protein focused. And make sure you're pooping! The scale will move again very soon!

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. You will experience stalls and just about everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program, and do everything you can to get in all of your fluids and Protein.< /p>

Embrace the Stall

I have 2 shirts that have been hanging in my closet since 03-04 that I've never wore. Both are listed as 2xl and one was tight at the time and the other was no way José. I keep trying the one that was tight before. I'm enjoying the once a week trial and error of the fit. I don't even wear that style of shirt any longer but I will wear both of them because I said that I would.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
