Congratulations rxjennc!

According to my doctor I can't start eating "real" food until the 4th week. But I have to take it slow and only eat a little at a time.

My fiance, has eaten two personal pizzas already today...he is driving me crazy with all that good smelling food..I'm ready to attack..LOL..but I know that he will be JEALOUS..when I am looking hot and he's not. So mean!!

I have Cigna and had to jump through all the 6th month long requirements. At first I was denied and I was really frustrated b/c I did everything they said. Then after my doc's office spoke with the insurance company I was ok'd. :) And now I have my surgery date on November 26th. I am excited, happy and nervous all in the same breath. I am supposed to do my preop diet 10 days before surgery and almost started tomorrow which would be too early. It just feels too good to finally come true. I have been dreaming about this procedure for about 4 years and finally it will happen in less than a month.

:clap2: :bounce: :paranoid

I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am a nurse but have never been admitted to the hospital or had any type of surgery. This fact makes me incredibly nervous. Do any of you know if you can take Prozac post op? I'm gonna need it.

Hi All,

I just got back from my surgery in Mexico last night. The surgery went fine, but I picked up a very severe cold/flu right before I left friday night, I could feel it in my chest. Well by Sunday I was miserable with it...the whole deal congestion coughing, diarrea, running nose. The trip back was absolutely horrible. Then in Dallas the plane broke down and I was stuck. I called my husband in tears I wanted to be home so bad. Well they finally got me on another flight but I literally had to run to catch it. Also in Seattle to make my connection. When my husband and I saw each other we both started crying. It was quite an ordeal.

I am so sick I don't really feel the surgery effects other than the gas pains and some pain at the incision sites. My doc has me on liquids only for this week and to be honest I haven't felt any hunger at all, don't really even want to eat or drink. My husband is beside himself with worry over me getting dehydrated, so when I get up to showering we are going to the store to get me some gatorade and some creamy Soups.< /p>

The good news is I have been able to take all my meds and some cold pills with no problem so far, oh an I got on the scale and with the pre-op diet and the lack of food for 4 days I'm down 12 lbs!

Carsons_Mommy I hope your surgery went well and good luck to all of you who are coming up on your sugery date!

I am so sorry you got so sick. That is awful. Just remember that in the end it will all be worth it. I hope you are feeling better very very soon.

I've made up my mind I'm getting the band on november 22nd. I have to go abroad for my surgery since it is not peformed here but will be well taken care of

I'm a bit nervous about the shoulder pain since I've had 3 C sections and had this shoulder pain in 2. It is extremely uncomfortable but it passes soon.

How are you doing that have been banded so far??

Any regrets???

Pamela (Pam726)

Thank you for the words of inspiration. I told the doc that he could do it on Thanksgiving Day for all I care....this is way more important than Thanksgiving. I just hope my family can Celebrate in the tradtional fashion. I will have much to be Thankful for that day

I was just banded yesterday (11-13). I've never posted before but I'm been here lurking and reading about the surgery for a couple of months now. My surgery was scheduled at 9:30 yesterday morning and I was home about 2:30. (I wanted to come home sooner but my oxygen level was a little low so they kept me for a little while.) Everything went fine--just kinda sore today but no gas or nausea so far and I'm just taking extra-strength tylenol for the pain. My Dr. wrote me a prescription for something stronger but I haven't had it filled. He gave me something for the nausea too but so far I haven't had to use it--they put a Sea-sick patch behind my right ear and I took that off early this morning. So far so good--I'm drinking coffee right now. I'm not hungry at all. The Bariatric office at the hospital called to check on me a little whie ago. My Dr. together with another Dr. from the practice did 9 bands yesterday here in Louisville, KY. They have 2 surgeons for every patient. I can't say enough about their office. They are absolutely wonderful!! Congrats to everyone having surgery this month. Your posts have sure helped me stay calm!! I'm anxious to hear everyone else's experiences too!! Bobbi :()

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
