;) Hey everyone! I just started the process a couple of months ago and hoping to get banded before the end of the year. I have 2 dietician classes left and 7#'s left to lose before I will be scheduled to see the surgeon. Luckily my insurance did not require me to do the 6 month supervised diet. I am married and I have a 13 year old daughter. I am a home care nurse. I live in Evansville, IN-anyone else out there from E'ville? Looking forward to having the lap band but, pretty nervous about the major life style changes. Any suggestions or success stories appreciated. I was so glad some one at a dietican class told me about this site. The other sight I was on was not all that great.

Hi Crystal - just wanted to say welcome! I am not anywhere close to you at all, but I am scheduled for surgery 29th October, and feeling pretty nervous too! Yesterday I would have said scared, but then I found this site, and I have been getting remotivated and inspired. i have researched just about every thing there is - so medically I am ready, I see the surgeon on Tuesday coming, and start pre-op diet 4 weeks before surgery.............. that alone is very daunting!! Anyhoo - on with the journey - good luck to you, keep in touch if you need a chat, Cheers Karen

New here too. I just got banded 1 week ago, feeling good. I am eating and so far no complications... I just cannot wait to get the staples out, they are so irritating! I hope this web site is busier than some of the others I have visited. Look forward to visiting with everyone.

Welcome to all of you!!!

Success stories abound on LBT! For starters go to the General Lap Band Discussion, and find the Before and After Thread---talk about some serious inspiration!!!!

On any support site you will also find a high number of people having problems, and needing support or advice. Keep in mind as you go through those, that the biggest number of people you view in the before and after are not here every day posting threads, about having another trouble free day! We chat and visit, and are very thankful to have everyone out there when we have our own questions!!!

This is a much more active site than some others I have visited. It too has its busy times, and slow times, depending on the work day etc. I think you will see a huge difference though!!!

Once again welcome to LBT, and blue...welcome to bandland as well!!!

Kat

Hi everyone! I was so glad to find so many people who have had or getting the band. I am scheduled to get mine on Sept 20 in Mexico and am nervous and excited at the same time. I need to lose 125 lbs and nothing else has worked. I am 60 years young, so am probably older than most of you. Has anyone used the Hospital Angeles (Belight group)?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
